Gamepad controls
Hi, I saw many complains about gamepad controls and would like to discuss more in detail what you don't like. I checked official forum and some people wanted something like PC3 or GTS has. That's very strange because both controls are good for arcades but not for great sime like AMS2 is. PC3 or GTS is fine if you can't use gamepad.

I am new to AMS world but love AMS1 controls. So for me anything similar is OK. AMS2 feels the same as PC2 which is OK to me but it's hard to set it right. For instance, steering curve is hard to set. That's my only problem and something like AC would be nice. I know, I can use external program for steering curve but it shouldn't be necessary.

What is your problem?

Even with PC2 controls I still love the game (no bouncing cars only :D).

There is no any change. Still PC2 input.

I've setup my Xbox 360 controller as custom wheel, it still has a bit of input lag but it feels a little better than gamepad setup I was using before.

Custom wheel would be amazing but it wasn't possible in PC2. Something changed?

Nice, I am testing it now...

I ended up the same as in PC2. Everything works fine during calibration but no wheel movement while driving. Xbox one controller. The same says people with unsupported wheels.

I got my Xbox 360 controller to work with custom wheel setup in both PCars2 & AMS2 without any extra software. Set left analog stick for steering and triggers for throttle/brake before calibrating wheels & pedals, in the wheel calibration screen I set steering wheel range to 100 & steering wheel lock to 300.

Yeah, I know that steps but it never worked. :D But it's good you have it working. Strange linearity it probably the same but at least some filters could be gone. I am not sure what to do with AMS2. I have same settings in games like R3E, rF2 or ACC and it's great to switch between them because it's the same. And then ME games...

You have to set damping to 0 in the control settings . When you change to Custom Wheel it sets damping to 100 and Speed Sens to 0 for some reason, and damping = 100 stops the wheel turning in game.

Anyways, I tested it and didn't see any big difference between custom wheel (even after playing with feedback/control settings) and customised gamepad settings.

It "works", but it's dull, and not really fun. Boring af. Uninstalled.

If they can trigger feedback when you go off track it shouldn't be that hard to implement some variable road feedback + engine feedback etc. Ditto for better control curve visualisation, and insight into configuring it.

As it is, Reiza just doesn't seem to gaf about gamepad users.

Thanks for the tip!

You are right, it can't change much. But better than nothing.

Yeah, I will probably uninstall it too. Currently I have awesome combo - rF2, ACC and R3E. If I want something great from Reiza, there is AMS1. Funny thing is every of these games has same steering - a good one.

I asked myself the same. If there is feedback off track it can´t be so difficult to implement it on track too. But anyway, I uninstalled it some time ago and don´t have in mind to invest more time into trying to get a mediocre controller support. Don´t know how many times I reinstalled it because someone said " Now it´s all good".
The sims Turtle mentioned all provide a decent controller driving , so thank God ,there are solutions for pad users.

Setting my controller as custom wheel seems to improve responsiveness a bit but controller vibration still sucks, just like in PCars2. The weird part is that PCars1 has decent vibration, and AMS1 is even better in that regard, so it doesn't make much sense to me why controller vibration is almost non-existent in AMS2.

I agree. Good thing is I don't care about vibrations too much. Would be nice but it's possible with good physics to enjoy it without it. But strange steering curve is killer to me. Why every other game has same settings and ME has its own? I can change game and immediately have familiar feeling because it works the same. Then I tried anything on ME and it's weird. 50 for sensitivity is too much but other choices are even worse.

Fortunately AMS2 doesn't have anything special for now. If I want interesting physics and million mods, I have rF2. If I want amazing AI racing with great tracks and physics, I have R3E. If I want awesome racing package, I have ACC. AMS2 could have great weather which is true but overall I don't need weather too much. R3E showed me how great could be AI racing and then everything else feels boring.

I hope Reiza will do some changes because PC2 input is not cool in 2022. They still have bugs in the UI so maybe in 2 years.

True, there is some filtering which adds input lag. Custom wheel should remove it. But that's it. It's not much of a help.

Have you tried ACC vibrations? They simulate slip angle, I guess, it's pretty cool but maybe too much. So you can feel how much around the peak you are. Very cool.

Hi, which setting use for Gamepad?
Deadzone ect.

Whatever you like. They all suck, it's like playing PC2. Better to uninstall it for now.
