Worse thing is having to map everything again.
I tried resetting the controls to default inside the game too, no luck. I'm using proton and linux, so maybe it's a wine/proton issue?
Not sure if it is the same as what you have. Here is my description and i have no solution:
My wheel is not recognized in AMS2 repeatedly. What happens is that i start the game 3 days in a row. Everything works fine, the wheel is setup as G920 in the settings.
Then on the 4th day, AMS2 no longer sees the wheel.
It is still setup a a G920 in the settings, but no signals are coming through.
(all this time the logitech software Ghub works fine).
THen i have to switch the wheel to a G29 in AMS2 and then it works again for a few days.
After 3/4 days, the same happens again and then i have to switch it back to a G920.
I only have this in AMS2, no other racing game. I also do AC, ACC, Rfactor 2, wreckfest, etc.
I would not even mind doing this, but switching the type of wheel also results in different mappings because its a different profile.
I hate to keep maintaining two different profiles all the time.
I am using Logitech Gaming Sooftware 9.04.49, not GHUB.
Never have this problem with AMS2 but had this problem with PC1 and 2.
I dont have PC1 or PC2 installled.
Btw, F1 2022 caused similar effect on my wheel (and I refunded) where no game was recognizing it properly and I did not have all wheel functions neither any FFB whatsoever (so it wwas being partially recognized as a gamepad).
I have actually installed this after i read your comment. And i uninstalled GHUB.
But now i know why i used GHUB in the first place, the regular software offers no settings for the wheel. It just recognizes it but there is no option to limit the rotation of the wheel for example.
This sometimes results in a very nervous ride in some cars.
Ever tried it? It might give you new insights and a faster laptime ;-)
In my case i have to switch this regularly between G29/G920 for AMS2 to discover my wheel.
I vary from 2% to 5% (depending on car and track combination, some in specific and if I driveen jusst 15min I may be even worst than that) but it is a thing of "learning to drive" and that it proves to be the case as the more I drive the samee car and track conbination the more I get closser to my best (around 2%).
I don't understand what you mean with the 2% to 5%. For me my speed also depends on track/car combo.
You can even add me if you want to elaborate.
A track like Spa for GT3s I can do 2:19 or so (around 4s slower, 2.9% off the best time) and a track like Brands I can do 1:23s (around 2s slower, 2.5% off), but I know my pace in Formula cars are usually between 3% and 5% (or worst, depending on the track, but usually between that)
1. Make sure you have your Logitech gaming software open for your wheel and you have selected the correct profile for the game.
2. On the main page, click on the graphic of your wheel then at the top, Right click on the game profile and select "test profile" in the drop down menu. Here you can see whether the wheel / buttons are working. If your wheel button presses are recognised then it is not a connection issue but the game itself.
3. Go to the windows start menu / search bar and type in " joy.cpl" then open it up. Here you should see your wheel and any other connected controllers displayed.
IF no wheel is there, then it is a connection issue. Try another USB port.
Select your wheel and click on properties. Another window will open where you can either click on the "test" tab test your wheels full rotation and pedals. You can click on the "Settings"tab and calibrate your wheel from here.
If your controller is not listed here, disconnect and reconnect the USB cable and see of windows Beeps to confirm it has been connected.
This normally kicks starts the game to recognise the wheel. Normally if and when say, Automobilista does not see my wheel while in game and I open joy.cpl, as soon as I press a button or a peddle, Automobilista sees my wheel in game and it works.
If still not working, make sure the wheel drivers are working. You can do this by right clicking the start / Windows button at bottom right corner of windows then selecting Device Manager. Open the tab "Human interface Devices" and with your wheel plugged into the USB port, You don't need to plug the wheel into any power source, you need to make sure these 2 drivers are showing up.
A. Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB
B. Logitech G29 Driving Force Racing Wheel USB (HUD)
If these 2 are not showing then it is either the USB port or you need to reinstall the Logitech Gaming Software again as the drivers have not loaded up. If you unplug the wheel, you will see these 2 drivers will disappear from Device Manager.
If you are using Content Manager, At the top right, select Settings / Assetto Corsa / Controls then on the top far right hand side you will see a COG wheel Icon in a red circle. Click this Icon and it will automatically open up the joy.cpl application to test your wheel in game. You can also test all buttons and pedals from this screen. Just make sure your wheel is plugged into the USB port, you don't even need to plug your G29 wheel into a power socket, your buttons etc will show each press and which button you pressed.
Test the above with the wheel directly connected to your computer as some USB extension cables can make this problem occur due to power issues if the cable is too long or old.
I don't know whether it was a recent windows software update but my 5 meter USB extension cables that I have used for 5 years suddenly stopped working with my mouse and keyboard as if not enough power. Now I can only use 1 or the other at a time but not both at the same time with one extension cable. The issue I have is that the same 5 meter extension cables both work on another PC and on my mac book pro so the cables are fine. Since I am now using a 3 meter USB extension cable, my mouse and keyboard connected to this smaller cable now work again, very strange. I mention this as this problem has happened very recently for me, so it could be an issue for you too.
In 5 years I have been sim racing, this is the only things I have ever had to do to get my wheel working correctly. I have never needed to delete my documents folder unless directed by Reiza after a big update.
I would like to hear whether this works for others too.
Good luck!
