H-pattern manual shifters
Why does AMS 2 still have issues detecting H-pattern manual shifters while, simultaneously, all other installed racing sims do not have this issue?

Yes I have tried "using another usb port".
Bearing in mind this can be bad news given the usb port premium for most sim racers.

Yes the controllers show in Windows.
And as mentioned above work with all other installed racing sims in the same usb port.

Yes I have 1. Placed the shifter in the wanted assigned gear. then 2. Hit the assignment then 3. Move it back to neutral then 4. Move it back into the wanted assigned gear. Had success with this method once or twice but it reverts back even after being correctly saved.

Love AMS 2 but given the number of great H-pattern shift cars in it, this is frustrating at least.

Any tips or guidance appreciated.

Thanks again Mahjk, did your test suggestion still no joy, could be the Madness engine as you said.

I wonder if you had both of them connected through USB if that would work (since there it would see two true different devices). Something to check if you can.

Use the "Custom Wheel" profile then manually assign all of your controls.

Thank you Mahjik

I am using the custom wheel profile and have manually assigned all controls, when it's possible to.

What sim gear are you using?

And just to confirm, when you are using "Custom Wheel" profile, when you configure everything only the H-Pattern gears are not saving?

Working fine here with my Fanatec H shifter.

Working fine with SHH shifter.

So I'm using two Thrustmaster TH8A shifters on for sequential connected directly to a Thrustmaster TS-XW wheel base, the other via usb for H-pattern shifting. Yes it's only the H-pattern that's showing the problems I posted. As mentioned, this setup works with AC, ACC, Rfactor 2.

As a test, try this...

Clear/save your configuration and start a new one. Don't configure sequential, ONLY configure the H-pattern and see if it saves (i.e. only configure ONE of the shifters).

FWIW, this title doesn't use the same game engine as AC, ACC or rF2 so it might be something that just won't work.

works fine with my Thrustmaster H shifter

Thanks again Mahjk, did your test suggestion still no joy, could be the Madness engine as you said.

If I recall correctly this was a problem with AMS 1 or certainly with the convoluted physical assignment method needed.

Anyway AMS 2 is in early access, maybe this will be cured I'll have to wait and see.

Thanks again.

I had the same problem with the game not detecting my Th8a after trying different methods and manual control assignment as well but nothing worked (works fine on my other sims).

Ultimately decided to refund but I'm sure I'll buy it again eventually once it develops into a mature/finished product (Automobilista 1 is one of my favourite sims).

But what about supporting Reiza earlier on so it's easier from them to reach that point? Is 30 dollars really that big a deal to you?

Mahjik, you are magic,

Connecting both shifters through USB has done it, working fine now. Just had to re assign shifter mappings in the other sims. A small inconvenience to drive all cars in this great sim.

Yet again thank you for your help, you're a friggin champion mate!
