Wind Noise / Lack of Engine Sound In Cockpit
Hi folks,

Does anybody else experience a bunch of wind noise that washes out the engine sounds of the cars? First I tried an open-cockpit P3 car, and I thought, okay that makes sense. My helmet is exposed + the engine is behind me, so I could understand hearing mostly wind. But there was still an issue of the engine sound coming out of the opposite ear than I would expect when turning my head. For example, if I turned my head to the left (VR + high quality headphones), I would hear more engine sound from the right hear. If I turned my head to the right, I would hear more engine sound from the left. Obviously this is the opposite of what I would expect, especially with the engine behind me.

So I tried the Ultima GTR and the Sprint Race car, both closed-cockpit cars, and the same thing was going on. The engine sounds and transmission sounds just sound extremely low-quality in my headphones, with a layer of wind noise over it all. When I press the "look back" button, sometimes I can hear the pure engine note, and it sounds AMAZING. So i know the high-quality sound is THERE. I just can't hear it while racing.

I have tried:
Setting Environment Volume to 0
Setting FX Volume to 0
Headphone Mix On and Off doesn't make a difference

My headphones are nice Sennheisers and my audio drivers and volume mixers are all set fine, this is night-and-day difference to AC, ACC, or R3E in VR + headphones.

If anybody knows of any settings I can edit, possibly via editing a game file, please help! I can't be the only one! Thanks!

Well I'm glad it's not just me at least. Thanks. Hopefully this will be something they will let us adjust/turn on and off as the game gets fleshed out. Pretty disappointing at the moment, though. Kinda ruins the immersion.

Same problem here. So engine sounds in cockpit / helmet view.

Very frustrating, hopefully since many of us are having this issue it will be fixed quickly.

Yep, same for me, only exterior cams let me here the engine sound, it seems that open wheel cars are more affected by this issue. The only way to play and test the game is to use the full screen cam, when I see only the road and nothing from the car, but it sucks

The sounds in general aren't so good.
Maybe they should use something else, like https://www.fmod.com/
or whatever Raceroom Experience is using,

The engine sound coming virtually from the front of the Formula Car is really confusing... Hopefully gets fixed soon.

I have reported the issue to Reiza : https://forum.reizastudios.com/threads/no-engine-sound-when-using-exterior-cams.9703/
I advise you all to do the same to get this bug fixed

Thank you, I added in over there too. I agree, let's get everybody to post their issues in that thread.

So per Gilles' advice, I have checked my Realtek HD Audio Manager and indeed making sure it is set to STEREO does help! I now have engine sound in cockpit view in even on the windy straights.

Unfortunately, the sound is still coming from the "front" of the car, so when turning my head in VR, the sounds come out of the wrong ears (turn head to left, more sound from the right ear AKA engine sound is coming from the nose of the car).

Thank you @Gilles for narrowing it down!

Same thing here in VR:
No engine sound
Tilt head = engine sound from FRONT of car. Not playable.
