"Loading speed 0.84x" for train at platform
I get a small message like this whenever a long train is picking up passengers. The platform is longer than the train, so all passengers can enter their coach directly. The message seems self-explanatory, but what might be causing it? It seems to appear whenever a train is over a certain length, irrespective of platforms.

----

Chris found the answer, see below. The problem was that I extended some platforms without changing the track to a station track rather than a normal track (another "gotcha" for my list!)

Hover the bulldozer over the length of all the track segments within the station. If there's a section of track that can be deleted without deleting the entire station, then there's your culprit.

Cheers,
Chris.

Is there no segment of platform missing? O perhaps you created a platform on the other side of the single track and it's shorter than the 'main' platform? Does this happen on all platforms or only some?
Finally - are you playing with any station/platform mods?

Hi, every platform segment must have a platform module and a station track module side by side. Platform modules without a track module don't count. And regular non-station tracks ("map tracks") don't count.

Without a screenshot I can only guess, but I suspect you added platform modules to the station without adding station track modules with them, and are trying to use the regular tracks you already had on the map. That won't increase the platform length that is used for load penalties. So you need to bulldoze the regular tracks first to make room, then add your station track modules, then reconnect the regular tracks to the station.

In order of your questions:
No
Yes
All with these conditions
No

Thanks... I don't quite see the logic behind the second question, although I'm sure there is logic!
I'm not sure what the problem could be, if it's happening to the many stations. My take would be to try to see if this also happens in 'vanilla' game and then start adding mods to see if any of them causes this.
There are two "lengths" here at play - the platform and the wagons - can you see any visual glitches with the trains or the platforms, which could indicate an issue with the models.

I'm not the person who posted the questions. But I assume they were pointing out a problem that could happen when two platforms of different length are servicing the same single track. You may think the game is using the longer platform when it's actually the shorter platform. If this is the problem. It can be solved by changing the platform that is being used in the line setup window.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

The train will look for the platform next to the buildings, if on this side is no other track. So maybe the train looks after the wrong, shorter platforms?

Thanks everyone for the helpful comments.

Yep, that's the problem. I extended the platform without changing the track to a station track rather than a normal track. Thanks - I've added it to my "gotcha" list!
