underwater train tunnels?
So I'm trying to place an underwater train tunnel, and it won't place. All the water goes red and a red box comes up saying "collision".

Any ideas?

Any reason for a tunnel?

As i would like to place a tunnel rather than a bridge between Britain and Ireland.

Possibly not quite low enough. , and . To adjust the starting height

That will probably go much more easily if you build a short section of tunnel under the Irish Sea first. Hit the comma key several times to reduce the elevation you're building at.
Once you get such a section built, extend it to much closer to each shore.
Finally, connect to the road/rail networks on each side.

You need to build the tunnel deep enough so that it goes under the sea base floor - just building it under the sea level is not enough, as it will "tunnel" on the water.

You probably have to start sloping down the tracks for the tunnel long before it hits the shoreline.

Alternatively, you can build the tunnel entrance closer to the shoreline, and then loop the tunnel to build up enough depth so it can go under the sea floor. This will slow down the trains a lot though.

Same applies for road tunnels as well.

Yep, I've tried to build one and it is just a bit oftrial and error to find out how deel you must go.

I try to build a tunnel to cross a river. I have the same error. Instead of building as low as possible, I raise the river bed as much as possible, and low the tracks and try to join the other side .... well.... still the error message. So I went for a bridge instead. A tunnel look nicer and neater.

In my last post I said I build a tunnel under a river. Well there is somewhat more to it than it looks. I did build a tunnel and when in normal view the trains do disapear in the tunnel and turn up again on the other site, so far so good.

But when I look closely and zoom in quite a bit I see below the surface in the river (under water) two tunnel-portals and the tracks are vage visable. When I follow the train in camera-view it goes down the tunnel, but when undercrossing the river it comes out ouf the tunnel and seems to ride just the piece under the river, in open air, no water above and than on the other side again goes intoo the tunnel on the other side of te river.

I think this is a rather tipical little bug...
