Audio rapidly stuttering when near more than one train
Is anyone else having an issue with all audio stuttering very rapidly when near one train? I only have steam trains right now but when near any of my train hubs i have to pause the game otherwise the audio hurts my ears its so bad.

Hi, nope that's definitely not normal. It does this in a vanilla game with no mods enabled? If so, maybe your sys has a sound issue? (drivers or something)

I supposed inadequate sys performance could also be an issue if it gets really bad, but I'd expect the entire game to stutter, graphics too, not just sound.

You could try Verify Game Files in Steam just in case there's a corrupt file.

I do have mods but disabling them didn't make any difference and its happening around all vanilla trains.

Something I noticed is it almost seems to be if there is a lot of sources of noise it happens. A single big train with lots of cars attached will do it but not all the time, its mainly around the train stations.

I didn't think of the game file verification, unfortunately it didn't help. I don't think its my PC since its only this game and its a Ryzen 5800x3d with an RTX 4070 so the game is running smooth.

Also to note it stops the instant the game is paused or if i zoom away from the train or just move far enough away to not hear them, its not happening whit the trucks either.

I found the problem. If my audio quality on the system is set to 24bit 96k Hz its fine but if changed to 192k Hz the audio in the game is a problem again. Not sure why this game its doing that as nothing else has this problem and it wasn't the full system audio just the game as music I was playing was unaffected.

Bizarre. Mine's on 24 bit / 48 kHz but I just tested 24 / 192 like yours and it works fine.

Maybe it's something about your audio controller or driver?

Or if you're using mods, maybe one of them isn't using the correct .wav format (should be mono 16 bit / 48 kHz) and it's messing up the output mix for your audio controller 🤷‍♂️

I don't see any gaming benefit for the higher setting anyhow so you're not really losing anything at 24 / 96k. Probably just call it fixed and game on I guess.
