Gameplay Mod: Rail & Track Industry (Beta Test)
Hello everyone,
I am working on a new mod with melectro. The mod is almost finished and we are looking out for Beta Testers.

Rail & Track Industry is a Gameplay Mod for an advanced challenge. It adds a cargo chain for rails and tracks, that need to be produced before you can build tracks. There are 3 new industries: Rail industry, Track industry and Track Warehouse. You need to create rails from steel, then produce tracks by adding planks and deliver them to a warehouse. Only then your stock increases and you are allowed to build tracks.

Find more info here (german): https://www.transportfever.net/index.php?thread%2F18481-rail-track-industry-mod-beta%2F

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MhgwdvJlok

In the beta phase we mainly want to finetune the parameters and adapt them to different game difficulties. Therefore we need experience from playing to see if the gameplay works out fine.

If you want to participate, please create an account on transportfever.net and send me a message. A mod description in english is available.

Will you have track laying and track maintenance vehicles?
Vimpster Apr 19, 2022 @ 2:07pm
That is a neat idea. It would obviously preclude the use of trains in the beginning. But that seems like a good trade off for such a nice feature. Does the stock of tracks actually get consumed as you build tracks or how is that handled?

It needn't as we could be given .....
a wharehouse full to start us off or .....
the temporary right to lease a line for a period.....
One established track build system with funds to expand....

and I am sure we could come up with plenty more inventive ways to make it attractive. Personally, I would like these in the core game. :D

Great idea? Is there no old type of track industry for the 1800s?

With the new patch allowing the addition of industry to the map during the game. Would it be a good idea to have separate industry for standard track and high speed track? That way if the game engine allows it. The high speed industry could be added to the map when high speed tracks become available.

Indeed. The beginning might be hard, especially on 1850. However, you dont need to use only trucks, also ships might be an option.

While track laying, the stock is consumed accordingly. This affects also stations. You get a notice when stock is low.

There is, as can be seen in the video.
There is also an old version of rail industry (not in the video).

The old one is for standard tracks, the new one for high speed.

For a long time before train tracks, rails were used to transport lots of heavy products. Masonry; Slate and Ores were often pulled by human or animals along rails. Per the link below an early example is a German mine from 1550.

Good idea. Planks for wooden sleepers and ConMAT for concrete sleepers.
Edit: And stone for ballast.

Me too. Was thinking of something similar the other day myself [as a concept].

It is a fantastic mod, & should have been a default part of the game.
As probably should a loco works, needing steel & wood to make the vehicles!

The mod is great, but such a feature should only be optional even it included in the vanilla game. Many of us are just looking for a straightforward Sandbox game afterall.
