Big spender achievement [SOLVED] Buy 200-250 TGV's in late game and set all vehicles maintenance to very high
Achievement description:

Big spender
Have a monthly maintenance cost of 200 million

I'm not that good in math but you can see in the picture that for my road, rail and air vehicles my maintenance is about 900 000 000 per 3 months which means about 300 000 000 per month so I should get that achievement but I havent yet and I dont know why. Already bought like 200TGV trains and set their maintenance to very high. It did not help.

You don't get any 'reduction' in this for going at 1/4 speed , so it's $2.4BN per financial reporting period (year on normal speed).

Having said that 200 TGVs is enough (or thereabouts) . Are they parked in the depot , if so you pay reduced maintenance. As I recall , I had about 20 trains each of 10 TGVs put them on the line and stopped the first one after it poked it's nose out of the depot . You will pay full maintenance on those trains as if they were moving .

TGV's were parked and in vehicle details it said the exact number for the maintenance which was default 9,7 mil per year + 50% so it was about 14,5 mil per year per train. If they are in depots maintenance is maybe lower as you mentioned but the vehicle maintenance is still the same in vehicle details and there is no proof of lowered maintenance.
My speed reduction is set because I dont like it when the time runs so fast so I set it as default when I started my game and let it be. I did not try to get some "reduction".
EDIT: Bought 50 more TGV's and finally I got it. So 250 TGV'S did the job which is just crazy :)

I got it without any TGVs, just my normal vehicles on the network. Around 150 trains in total if i remember right, but they were typically north of 320m in length, all of them. So buying TGVs isn't necessary if your network is big enough.

Agree but I have connected every industry and every city on large map and I had to "help it" with these TGV's which in my opinion makes this achievement stupid.

OK , I agree with the OP that this task is too much . I would like to see someone prove that they have reached $2.4bn in maintenance per year (or financial reporting period) organically which would need to be making a healthy profit to pay for the depreciation at least. In the screenshot I have 570 trains on a mega map where every industry (more or less) is running well and all towns are connected and the lag is challenging and yet I still have not quite got that high . Playing on easy mode would allow for a load of stopping trains to be replaced by TGVs I guess but still....

You don't need it for a year. Just a month will do. That's how i got it. My highest upkeep on this map peaks up to 2.2 billion and yet i got the achievement. Map is also uploaded to workshop. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2171099317

The figures shown are an average of $100m a month which is half what is required. Just having one month where you have massive maintenance gets you the achievement but that is not organic growth and genuinely getting to $200m a month by fairly gradual growth and being profitable .

And? Achievement done, job done. It grows where it grows and how map allows it.

When I have set every vehicle to very high I was losing like 200-300mil each year. Of course it is not that necessary for cargo trains and planes but still - I would say for this achievement you need really huge network and many many vehicles which make a lot of money - basically hit the 200m per month because you have a lot of active vehicle not only because of maintenance set to "very high"

Thanks for the tip, I was doing it all worng with flying plains.
Then with tgv's in a depot, but after your tip about moving them and stopping the first train when it left, I got the achievement immediately.
