Cheers,

Note that's technically not the speed of the simulation. The game's simulation speed is still controlled by the play/pause/fast forward buttons. They control how fast things move in the simulation.
Clicking the date controls the date speed, which is how fast the calendar date changes. It speeds up / slows down the arrival of new vehicle types / tech. It doesn't affect the simulation speed.
There's also a mod for date speed slower than 1/4x:

No mods are required to do this.
Why would you need to manually download a mod, a TpF1 one on top of that, when you can perfectly do that in the vanilla unmodded game?
As stated, just click in the date at the bottom right corner of the screen, then in the bar that appears, change the date progression to "Paused".

It does matter since the functionality in question is already included in TpF2.
In the base unmodded game, mind you, not as a mod.
You can pause time progression even in a fully vanilla - no mods - playthrough.
As per the screenshot, this is done bottom right corner of the screen, click in the date, then you can change the calendar time progression using the sliding scale. You can do that at any time during gameplay. Pause, change back to normal speed, or make it faster or slower, to your liking.
Why waste time manually installing a mod - especially since a direct link to the file in question was not provided - that is actually less flexible than what the game offers?

Don`t u have anything else to do than to quarrel about meaningless things. Every thread u must interfare. For the last time. I gave him a choice, if he want it or not is up to him. Not U!!! If he want the date to stay still and nothing get older. Just % of lifetime to be seen. That`s ok with me. If he want the date to run, he can with the mod. His question was if there was any way to stay in age of steam. And yes it`s two ways to do that. So he can choose!!! It`s none of your business if he want to use it or not. It`s none of your business that people post to give him option. I don`t ask u to post.
Yes, no mods required, you can set the game calendar speed to half, quarter or freeze the date completely. That's part of the vanilla game.
@OP:
As explained by many, you can slow down or freeze time easily, just click the little date panel bottom right.
You have an additional mod option I believe which removes the expiry dates of all rolling stock. Using this means that you would be able to replace and add to your steam loco roster regardless of the game date right to the end. Effectively it means all locos will remain on the buy list at the train depots in perpetuity.
Yes and you don't need any mods. Just click the date in the bottom right hand corner. You can stop the time progression entirely.
(Time still passes in the game, it's just that the date stays put, so you can play with the same technology for ever)
Everything you need is right there in the vanilla game. Absolutely no mods required, needed or wanted.
That is what I originally said, some people prefer to make things harder for themselves and others though.
No mods - nada, zero, zilch, etc. - are required to do this. Right click in the date in the bottom right corner of the screen, then change game progression slider, you can speed it up, or stop it entirely.
You still get revenue and losses, but you date speed will change or stop accordingly to the option chosen.
The alternative you read is unnecessary extra work, and I am not aware of a way of editing game files in console either way, as you can easily do in PC.
