Selecting a specific route with waypoints
Hello transportation managers,
Just bought the game on the sale, and am wondering how to select a route for transporting a commodity using waypoints as I have too many routes using one road and it is confusing and very congested.
Thank you

Waypoints can be clicked just like stations can when you set up routes.

So create waypoints to force the train to take a particular path towards the next station.

What you can't do, however, is have trains choose different routes at different times. What you do is have some routes use one path and the other routes use the other path. On average, this eases congestion.

Put a waypoint in the road of your choice, and in the Line Manager, click on it, as you would when selecting stations and stops. Do pay attention to the correct order of stations/stops/waypoints, as out of order stops will result in unnecessary messes and backtracking.

Ships and trains also have waypoints. Trains can also use signals as waypoints.

On railway lines you can use signals as waypoints.

The signals can be made one way only.

Road waypoints can also have lanes selected much as you would select a terminal at a station.

Didn't know that, thank you.

That used to be very helpful for making buses/trucks use the "fast lane" on highways and large streets. But now that the last game update permits vehicles to change lanes to pass slower ones, it's not really needed for that anymore.

Perhaps an unneeded clarification:

The fact signals can be unidirectional or bidirectional has nothing to do with and is completely separate from the fact signals can be used as waypoints.

Cheers

Exactly, so why did gps_george say this:
Yes, thanks larry_roberts, I noticed they have dirctional arrows

He also said he just bought the game, which is why I pointed him to the guide.
