Second, make the X crossing much longer, like at least 8 track sections
third, once you have created the crossing make sure you click on it, and activate it, or it won't work
Sometimes starting from the other way around does the trick.
Worst comes to worst, you can always do a couple of single switches instead of a scissor crossover.
More often than not, I will jump to this mod. Just note, by default is uses an N crossing, not an X crossing, so you need to remember to click the X crossing.
Cheers,
Chris.
P.S. The track ladders are very useful as well.

Can also report an issue to official support here so they're more aware that it needs a maintenance patch:

Wouldn't be needed here, it's only for double-slip switches.
This mod worked like a charm, it just makes intersection way easier to do, the game seems "buggy" from my viewpoint in that aspect, It's the first game I have this kind of problems, I have created many trains in other games with no problems (soviet workers, cities skyline and factorio)
Thanks!, now I will try to understand how signals work there,as I want trains to go EU driving style, and only allow bidirectional to cross the X intersection
As mentioned above, the problems with building double crossover tracks are new, added by the final game update that was released this fall. Before that (game Build 35732) they were easy to make and would only occasionally be annoying, usually when building them on curves. But after the Fall update (current Build 35915) they fail to build much more often, repeatably. It seems that when they introduced the new track building guide features they broke something.
As for signals, here's the wiki manual if you need it:
