Can you get ocean liners in this game?
My favourite vehicles are ocean liners such as the Lusitania and Titanic. I was wondering if you can get ocean liners in this game and if not if anybody knows mods with realistic models of them.

Also, can ships sink, planes crash, etc?

There are some large ocean liners available via mods. But nothing exactly what you are looking for. At least as far as I know.

There are no collisions in the game. If two items collide. They just pass through each other.

That would be cool! Kinda morbid but...COOL!
Ah, that's really unfortunate. I love ocean liners so much, and during the 1900s-1960s they were the fastest mode of transportation across seas. Not only that but ocean liners were the pinnacle of human achievement in engineering, logistics, aesthetics, economics, and culture, which were the pride of their nations. No vehicle is more glorious than the ocean liner.

I would have also loved to have played parts of management were potentially accidents could happen. I set up a route wrong so a train or boat crashes, weather conditions causing difficulties, lack of maintenance potentially endangering cargo etc.

Still, I guess this game is pretty expansive and ambitious already doing so much. I just wasn't sure how far it would go. Well hopefully one day we can get mods for all this stuff.

By the way, I looked into the mods, but I couldn't find any ocean liners, do any of you know specifically what mods have features like that?

Hi, Steve Emfore has some nice ship mods, especially in the late sail and sail/steam hybrid era. He also released a new 2-stack liner just last week.

And I see Grim Ranger has a small 2-stack steamer I didn't know existed:

I also recall seeing a 4-stack liner (Titanic-ish) in the Screenshots section very recently, like sometime in the past week or so. I don't know if it was a usable ship or just a static asset, or where it came from.

Old style supersized liners I do not think there are any available, though there are large modern ferry ships available.

Closest alternatives I found are:

TpF 1 has the Lusitania available, plus a few other similar liners created by the same author, you can port it to TpF 2 for your own personal use, with a little bit of work:

Caveat: if you do so, needless to say that is for your own use, do not upload it to TpF 2's Workshop or anywhere else. You could try contacting the mod's author to see if he or she can make it available here.

In the workshop there is an S.S. Germanic model but that's it. I agree that some more White Star ships and such would be great, but most of the passenger ships are riverboat cruisers. "I like them big boats, too uh hmm. Just like them french fried 'taters uh hmm."
If all you want is ocean liners then this game is not for you, (The water bodies on these maps can only be described as "lakes.") but if you are interested in transport and supply chain logistics then this game is the best choice by far.

Ah that's the one I saw! Found the screenshots, it was Break Feeling playing around with a new skybox mod:

Well at least the SS Germanic and the Steamship Ferry look pretty cool but it's a shame there isn't more mods for the second game where you can have a wide range of ocean liners. That was dope to see the Lusitania there with a u-boat AND a plane! Is that in Tfp1 or 2? Because the mod seems to be for the first but the screenshot says its in the second.

I think I will still get this game anyway but it looks really cool and I am into other types of boats and trains as well. It seemed really appealing to start from 1850 and work your way into new eras. Seems like a really dense game hard to get information about but I'm going to pick it up and see what it has to offer.

Thanks for sharing the mods and screenshots that was really helpful

The screenshots are from TpF2, so the owner likely ported the ship mod from 1 into 2 like @Tsubame described above.

There is also the Early Start mod that lets you start in 1800.

I'm not sure if you are interested in any of the newer ocean liners. If you are here are a few...

If you want to see what they look like. I used them in this video. They first appear around the 23:40 mark.

Oh nice, thanks very much everyone. Modern cruise ships are cool as well just not as classy or amazing as those old steam beauties bursting bigger and faster across oceans faster than anyone's ever imagined with STEAM.

I'm going to get this game soon and a bunch of mods to try out as it does seem still probably got more real content like that than any other game at the moment. I tried looking for games about ocean liners but really I couldn't find any except a couple that were reviewed very badly.

I'd absolutely love a sort of ocean liner tycoon style of game, and that's how I discovered TpF2 after searching for games you can plan out supply lines, and play pure logistics / engineering management. I'm sure this will definitely scratch that itch and theres always the chance that people will make more mods or that Transport Fever 3 can be even more amazing.

And yeah it would honestly be pretty cool to have vehicle crashes which you had to manage with insurance pay outs and building rescue services. You could lose ships, customers, or alternatively be a master of health and safety.

Accidents and breakdowns are right up there with 'natural' disasters as some of the worst "game mechanics" ever implemented in a game. There is no fun or interesting gameplay to be had in "your steam engine blew up / plane fell out of the sky for no reason that you could have done anything about" or "a train randomly broke down on a junction so you're going to have to do without income from three lines for the next however long it takes to fix a breakdown," and as far as insurance goes that's functionally just increased upkeep.

100% Agree. These things are a different depth than this game is trying to reach. This game is about getting this rock to that factory to be processed for that factory to be shipped to that city. Logistics. It's not about the daily lives of little pixel patrons.

I totally agree. That's the reason I stopped playing Railway Empire 1 and never bought Railway Empire 2. I can't stand the train breakdowns.
