For example, crude oil > oil > fuel
This can be turned off by using the Sandbox mod and disabling "Input" in the desired industries, this will allow industries of choice to simply produce whatever goods of choice without any material requirements.
By the way, a train station does not need a cargo building to accept cargo, it needs a cargo platform. A cargo platform present will add a cargo icon to the station, and if there is also a passenger platform present their will be 2 icons and you will have to be sure when setting up the line to click on the cargo icon of the station. No buildings need to exist on a train station at all.
Ah, that was the problem, then. I thought a cargo building would be enough.
Anyway, I found an alternative solution with ships and that seems to work well (and is less complex), so I think I'm good. Thanks!
