Halp fix my Truck Station pathing nightmare
I tried to get things flowing smoothly, input on one side, output on the other, so they'd never have to wait for each other. I got this monstrosity!?! Anyone got a screenshot of it done correctly?

I even tried deleting it and spinning it around so they could go down the expected side of the platform, they seem to ONLY pick up on the right.

Awesome thanks. Is this added to Guides?

I don't think so. I'd add it, but it's not mine to add.

OK, it's still ugly but this is the best I could come up with on my budget for a small station...

I really liked the idea of having Line A come in on one side and go out the other but that doesn't seem to be the way the game wants to do pathing.

Oh wait! Waypoints! BRB.

That's a good post, very informative.

BTW the reason why the trucks loop round each other like that (rather than simply head straight for the platform and straight out the other side) is to build queuing space inside the truck stop. This reduces the problem of trucks queuing down the street which brings all traffic to a halt there - which is a very big problem. The trucks are programmed to somehow manage to get past each other when two lines intersect like they do on your screenshot. I think they sort of bend the rules a bit in that situation, become insubstantial so-to-speak.

What you could do to separate the lines is build a third platform and assign the lines to the outer two. A bit a work with the modular system you could probably get both lines in and out without intersecting with each other.

Yeah I often have a second Truck Stop just to avoid the traffic jams. I was hoping that with the new stop configure option there would be something more elegant.

I think I've found it! No waypoints needed!

Much improved, if only can get rid of the crossing traffic pattern on the route

Yeah I don't like it but gonna call it a work in progress for now...

Can we just all recognize a super awesome feature of the game, if I delete a station and recreate one very close to where the original one was, ALL MY LINES USE THE NEW STATION! Seriously such a huge lifesaving feature - a not so obvious bell & whistle that is a significant quality of life improvement.

TPF1 did that too :P But yeah, its a nice touch.

I'm honestly wondering if my first attempt was actually better than the later one given where the later one is crossing paths. The very first option crossed paths only right after delivery / pickup.

Alright you beautiful b*stards... you wanted no crisscrossing... you got it. I title this guide, how to overengineer even your simplest stations.

Of course now the speed loss from the hills is actually worse for my lines than the crisscrossing ever was!
