Ships with hybrid Passenger and Cargo.
Some of the descriptions used in game would suggest to me that a ship can transport Cargo and Passengers at the same time eg: The Dunara was the first ship to offer a "regular" passenger cargo service.
This suggests to me that you can transport passengers and cargo simultaneously. Especially as now almost all the ships can carry passengers as well as cargo. We also have the ability to have stations or ports have passenger and cargo terminals.

Basically, is this possible? If so how? If not, then it should be. The Rigi and Wilhelm ships used to be one for passengers and one for cargo but now they can haul both. So why bother having them both unless its possible to run hybrid routes.

no not possible is seperated. same with trains. each line is ether cargo or PAX.

Yeah I didn't think it was possible. It just suggests to me that it should from the new way it has been set up. Hybrid stations, and ships that are capable of handling both passengers and cargo says to me that it should be possible.
I specifically mean ships as I understand that a train passenger carriage shouldn't be able to carry cargo too. However a ship could. I think this should be implemented as so far this game doesn't really have much improvement on the previous.

I agree that it would be nice if a ship or train could carry both cargo and passengers!

Well they can ! Mind you I don't recommend it . Worked slightly better in TpF1 when passenger stations unloaded freight

Yeah I thought it might have been possible for trains, I just hadnt tried it yet.
I want the same for ships. They have 2 compartments and it would actually make ships economically viable if you could buy one ship to do a bit of cargo and passenger transport.

Logically it must work but I could not get it to in quick testing .

Can you show the line? Do you have to dock two times for that?
Autocoach Dec 14, 2019 @ 8:31am
Yeah so two towns each have a 'dual' passenger and freight dock nearby . Buses and trucks bringing stuff to the port.

The ships make four calls . Passenger North , Freight North , Freight South , Passenger South as you need pax - pax and freight - freight .
Knub Dec 14, 2019 @ 8:32am
But if there is too much freight or passengers the ship will just load one cargo type?

Thanks for explaining!

I see. I also set it up that way but have not seen it working yet. Maybe I just need to be patient, but atleast I can see now that it does work. Nice one man

Yep . Should go Pax - Freight - Pax - Freight I suggest so that the Pax have a chance to get on .
