Report a translation problem
With that said. There are two things I do to help with the problem.
1. When using things like the line manager, line statistics, and station editor windows. Press one of the overlay keys (such as the elevation overlay) twice. The second key press turns off the white overlay.
2. Changing the value of game.config.gui.contourLinesConfig.terrainMinColor to a different value can be used to make the elevation overlay less bright. The default value is { .65, .65, .65, 1.0 }. I changed it to { .60, .60, .60, 1.0 } and it's still bad but at least it's a little less annoying. You can either change it by creating your own small mod or by editing the base_config.lua file. The base_config file is located in "Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\res\config". Please note that while editing the base_config file is easier it is not the "proper" way of doing things and may be overwritten when the game updates.
These workarounds are far from perfect. But I consider them to be better the alternative.
