Chapter 2 "High Flyer" Chauffeuring the Press Around issue

I'm on the "Organizing the Premiere" part of the mission, and I've done everything except the Chauffeuring the Press Around. I've set up the route between the airport and the premier, and set a couple waypoints to make sure it would take long enough, and I've assigned a vehicle to the route. However, the "Vehicle en route" task never ticks off. Any ideas?

Scratch that. Because I had a regular bus route through-out the city, nobody wanted to ride the long route, and the bus had no passengers.

I does not work for me either, i have a 2 stations route but the seconds counter won't tick off

The 5 minute counter start at the airport, but won't get passengers if it has competition. You can't reach the press event location until after the counter reaches the 5 minutes.

Make sure to delete all other routes leading from airport to Cinema for premier. That worked for me....

I can confirm that. When you get this quest you probably already have the bus connection from the airport to somewhere. I removed all my bus lines in the LA area and placed one stop at the airport and one in front of the hotel. Placed about 10 waypoints on the route going north/south in the LA via 5 streets and it started to count the "vehicles en route" and the needed 300 seconds.

I deleted all the LA lines, recreated them again, even bulldozered the old bus stops. There's no way to make it work. Any other ideas?

This is an express route, but not really express, a site seeing express route with only two stops. You ensure the airport and hotel have only this one route as an option, wait till the vehicle gets a passenger coming from the airport. And the guide is to add waypoints to redirect the bus after the airport stop (stop list) to various points in this city (the bus will only follow the path you tell it to, and will redirect its path). But a simpler fashion is to just stop the bus and wait out the 5 minutes. You can only land at the final hotel bus stop once the 5 minutes journey length is done between the exact two stops on the line that have no other competition.

Yeah, I can confirm that this will only work if:

a) The route has ONLY the airport and the theatre stops
b) For the delay, you can either stop the bus or add waypoints (in the ground tools menu, where the roads are built)

i know it's a really old topic. but i looked for exactly this problem and found another solution.
after setting up that long route and waiting for ages i looked for this topic.
but instead of deleting the old profitable bus line i switched all it's busses to the long line. and it immediately started the next phase of the quest, since the "old busses" already had passengers on them.

The route needs to have only 2 bus stops. You have to build waypoints in order to increase the length. Cheers :)
