Campaign mission 18 (chapter 3): Last achievement (Oriental Pearl Tower) - What am I missing?

The last achievement was super hard to get.

You need to transport 200 workers to a construction site in the city center, however this takes ages, as only very few people want to go there.

I even destroyed all industrial buildings in Shanghai at some point and walled in the entire city with train stations, so that citizens are forced to work at the construction site. This speeds up the process a little, but still takes around 30-45 minutes on 4x speed to get all workers. (this also lead to quite a few CTDs so I did not follow through until the end)

What makes this medal tedious to get is the fact that you are not allowed to earn more than 10 million or the entire mission will just finish before you can get the medal.

Did I run into a bug or does it also take ages for you? Is there a special trick?

My "strategy" in the end was to sell everything, except 20 trams and then I just kept the game running in the background. Eventually I got the medal, but by that time I had a negative account balance of 120 million in addition to a maxed out 100 million credit (so a negative 220 million in total...).

PS: For me the tower remained a construction site, even when the side mission was over (despite the pop up saying "tower has been built"). So this could be a bug.

Not sure how many people have gotten this far yet, couldn't find any youtube videos for this mission yet.

Hey dennis im stuck on mission 17 maybe u can help, i cant seem to get Machines shipped, says Construction prohited, so cant get my truck stop/stations close enought for them to catch the sites, any suggestions to what im missing?

The only YouTube video was Raptor. He complete the mission, but that part ( Send employees to the Tower ) was not complete. As for mission 17, Raptor did complete the mission.

So basically you have to build around the entire oil field that is controlled by the AI

If you need more space you can probably also use the terraforming tool to remove some of the water

Yeah, iam sitting at that spot right now......

You can get the medal for the tower even if you completed the main mission, i had that on another mission before and it shows up fine, jsut keep playing after "winning".

Did you do train or plane ? I can't realyl believe they tested it with planes, as have massives losses on all plane lines, even though they are full both ways, as i expect the ma to jsut be to small. And air freight has massive problem with the tiny cargo terminal storage space.

Haha yeah I started with planes as well, but then I completely ditched them in favor of trucks and a bus line (using highways for both)

The key for me was to use long distance cargo lines, that way I made a profit. With planes I had the exact same issues as you.

Yeah, after i hit the last goal, while already in the red, i sold everything plane realated and kileld all the airports. The distances are just to short on the map to get them working right. At least he fixed teh demand issues, but on the short trips the overhead is jsut to big and that is ignoring the immense extra infrastructure cost.

40 minutes and 30 workers later :( "Only" 150 to go.

haha yeah it takes ages. If you are bored you can try to find a way to access the context menu of the construction site to finish the building manually :D (won't impact the mission)

Did the tower change for you during the mission, because mine is still the first stage construction site. This definetly seems to be a bug as it has different stages thast are never shown.

Yup same for me.

My guess is that the 200 workers are just for the initial stage

Nope, that is the only part of teh tower goal. I also expected it to go to the actual building part, as in delivering mats, but it is only the workers and the tower never chanegs, even though it has 4 stages in the files.

I am currently on that last mission for my yt playthrough session and I was a bit baffled at how quickly the main mission was over and I stood there without any medal at all, lol.

Now the tower just seems to be buggy, but doable "by just running the game until it's done", but how you get the 80% station? The number keeps going from 99 to 90 and back up again. Tried adding trains, removing trains, nothing worked...

Here's how I got it.

After receiving the task I immediately sold every single vehicle I had to prevent the main mission completion. Then I set 2 bus lines from Suzhou and Nantong to bring people to the construction site,, just 1 or 2 buses per line, and 2 lines in Shanghai just for little boost. You need to bring those workers from other towns or it will take forever, also it helps if you use largest roads as the traffic becomes very bad after you sell your stuff.

You can, i have 2 bonus missions completed after teh main mission finished, you get achievemtns jsut fine if you continue.

currently doing this one atm. It's stupid. 19 people just got off the bus at the tower building site, but only 1 was counted. I guess the other 18 are going shopping nearby...

Anyway, I have a bus line going to each city and returning to the tower. Only 2 bus stops on each line, the tower and the pick up point. 2 buses per line.

then I have 5 buses on a loop in shanghai, then another 5 buses on a residential loop and dropping at the tower

Still taking ages. 82/200 atm
