Yeah. Something else must be broken, either in the game or my line. I have a farm with a cargo station hauling to a dock with cargo station shipping to another dock that has catch with with cargo rail station built right against the food factory.
Are you sure the Iron Ore isn't using all the compartments as even a partially loaded compartment stops you loading.
For instance if a ship has a capacity of 100 and 2 compartments, there would be an allocation of 50 to each compartment. As soon as you load 51 ore you won't be able to load any coal even though technically you might think you have 49 capacity left. This is realistic as you wouldn't mix goods in that way in real life.
Hope that makes sense and you can check this isn't happening to you.
Regarding your farm and your shipping dock, in Line Management, you can decide for each line what to load and what to unload.
I tried this with the other "any" cargo ship available in 1860, i forget the name. It's slower, but at least it turns out it will pick up all 70 coal it can carry! I take this as an indicator that my line is set correctly, there must be a problem with the ships?
I am visiting both passenger and cargo ports at each end. (I've given them good names and am not confusing one for the other)
The rest of the supply chain works; that is, cargo is produced, moved, and loaded on the cargo dock. So the overall game logic thinks the ship can and is carrying cargo. It just doesn't.
It refuses to load cargo if there are already passengers on board. Passengers, meanwhile, only ever occupy one of the two compartments.
It appears as if the ship only carries either a single compartment of passengers, or up to two compartments of cargo. This makes it useless as anything else than a dedicate freight vessel.
If I replace the Klondike with something like a Shaffhausen, everything starts to just work, no changes. So the Klondike specifically is borked.
