However joining two trains or splitting one train and using it as two is no longer possible
I am currently playing the tutorial mission. I bought a train and 3 wagons (separately). All four vehicles are now happily sitting in my shiny new depot, but I am totally unable to hitch the existing wagons from the depot to the existing train (also in depot).
When I select the train in the vehicle manager and click on the "wrench / edit vehicle" symbol, the only thing I can do is buy new wagons for the train (which in fact I cannot even do, because I keep getting a message that there are no more wagons available which could be bought).
So, instead of trying to buy new wagons for the train, how can I hitch the existing wagons from the depot to the train?
I do feel rather stupid, this seems like such a fundamental thing ... it should be really easy to do any quite obvious (especially since I have spent hundreds of hours on TF1), but I am at an absolute loss here ... any help would be most appreciated.
This cannot be done . Massive issue for me
Seriously?!? WTF?!?
I had read some posts prior to launch claiming that apparently they had "dumbed down" the game ... but this is unacceptable! Changing the configuration of existing trains (without having to sell and re-buy the wagons) was one of the most fundamental (and one of the most fun) aspects of TF1.
Really disappointed! :(
Thanks for the reply though.
D 1/3 can carry 48 (12 wagons)
Borsig can carry 64 (16 wagons)
Start with 4 D1/3 trains buy 3 Borsigs using the same wagons send out 3 longer Borsig trains and then use the D1/3 for something else by attaching them together and moving light engine elsewhere.
Now you can only edit 4 D1/3 trains and buy 4 new wagons for them each . Bin one train entirely and bin the old locos .
Screenshot showing the button you need to click etc. In this instance I would be replacing vehicle 14 alone.
Yes, but again, this only highlights that you need to "replace" a vehicle if you want to change it's configuration. "Replace" essentially means you sell the old vehicle and buy a new one, loosing money in the process (as the old vehicle will be sold at a lower price than the new vehicle costs).
If I have two existing trains A and B, with 4 wagons each, and I want to move 2 wagons from train A to B (with the goal of train A having 2 wagons and train B having 6 wagons) I do NOT want to sell 2 wagons from train A and buy two new wagons for train B. This will loose me money, as the two wagons from train A will sell for less money then the two new wagons for train B cost.
I have already paid for the 8 wagons I posses - now I just want to move the wagons from train A to B, without having to pay extra money for an intermediate sell/buy process.
And this si the problem, I do not want to buy new wagons, just reallocate the wagons that I already own between trains to suit the demand. Just dumb, hopefully the developers will fix.
And this is the answer for your problem!
Send both trains to the same depot and switch waggons!
you have to select both trains in the depot and then click on the wrench
