Assertion Failure: pr.second failed.
If I pause the game and play like that nothing happens, but after I start it it crashes after like 1-2 minutes with the error:
Assertion Failure: pr.second failed.

I use mods. I've already validated the game files and deleted previous savings.
Can u help me in this topic?

It says
Device loss detected - memory info: * Host 336/7237 * VRAM 3673/3380
and
SIGABRT
which most likely means you have a too high texture setting as the VRAM usage "wants to be" higher than the available VRAM.

Hi Bird,

Do you still face the problem with the Assertion Failure pr.second failed?
Do you have a save game in which the issue can be reproduced?
If yes can you share it with us so that we can analyse it? It might help us to fix this issue.

Many thanks in advance.
Best regards
Thomas

If it occurs always at the same calendar date, it is likely a time-related bugged event. i.e. a glitched vehicle, improper attempt to spawn new roads, etc. You have to identify it and remove it out to stop it from reocurring.

For example, stop all vehicles from moving, and play the simulation, and see if it occurs. If yes, then narrow down. If not, try something else instead.

HI Tsubame,

Do you have a save game which this issue exists? Would be great if you can share it with us.

Best regards
Thomas

I have just published a fix for the Town Tuning. Before the fix, it could throw this error in certain circumstances.

I'm currently having the same issue here. As it is, it occurs when the game enters the year 2020 - the game will freeze, then crash to desktop. I thought it might have been a faulty vehicle (Train, plane, etc), so I sold all vehicles to test. Did not help. I have mods including the town tuning mod, but I'm not certain if the later is the cause. I've also tested this on 3 different maps including generating a new one, and all crash shortly after entering the year 2020.

EDIT: I am curious if a recent update to the game broke something as I have not added new mods within the past few days leading up to the event that started occurring on the 10th of June. I have also validated files on steam 3 times with no solution.

@thomas.buerkli, I do have a support ticket pending. I am happy to provide a save file there if requested.

@Sauber: you could try using Sandbox mod and change the date to an earlier date, and see if the error occurs. If it works, that could be a workaround of sorts, do it with the game paused and remove the mod after if you do not want to use mods in your playthrough.

Also, did you test on a modless map?

I tested it on a map with only the official mods by UG (EG: no costs and sandbox mode), as well as the deluxe dlc and early supporter dlc. Played around with it for a good 10 minutes in 2020 with no issue.

I also tested my main map I'm playing by setting it back to 2019. Played with that for 20 minutes and no issue there.

I have had this earlier today, the first time ever other than some mod issues in the past!

Can anyone help?

Seriously though this is why the console version is better as you get none of this! Granted you cannot do everything you can do from the PC version but this is crazy.

I have changed nothing about the game in weeks and left running for an hour or two whilst doing stuff and never happened, then today just log in and it says NOPE with above error!

Why do I see Cities Skylines in the error message above? lol

Anyway, are you using mods? Such errors should not appear in vanilla. If it does, try verifying the integrity of the game files.

Games run easier on console usually not because of the game itself, but because consoles are standardized - everyone who owns a PS5 or XBox will have more or less the same build and the same hardware.

This is not the case with PC with different people having wildly differing hardware, specs, and an array of different software installed.
