What do you get by lying about it? It's not like it matters if you had or used mods before...
This is clearly the issue though. Most of your game's data can't be accessed, almost as if the mods you had modified or removed the original files.
Validate your game.
Have you made sure your Graphics drivers are up to date?
But, with so much
and then lots of instances of
Makes me think your hard drive is either full, or corrupt, or something is blocking your game from rebuilding itself.
You have the game installed in Program Files (BIG ISSUE - windows HATES anything installed there) so that could be a reason.
Have you made sure -everything- from the game has been deleted including all your .ini files stored in your userdata folder in Steam's folder? as well as all workshop folders and anywhere else mods were/are stored? you should do so, then reinstall the game.
There is a mention of the Legacy Vehicle Pack in your STDOUT that would indicate the update, but whether it indicates the Deluxe and Early Responders Pack, I don't know.

@Liquid
I wasnt lying. I have disabled all mods to try to see if that would work.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled game..... no joy.
I verified files.... no joy
Next time I switched on my laptop, it started downloading the mods I had subscribed to, but I havent activated any in case it was a mod issue.
I am not technically minded so I dont really understand what's going on.
It worked fine before the update and no I dont have the deluxe or early adopter packs.
Any help you can suggest would be greatly appreciated.
To switch to a previous version, close the game and right click Transport Fever 2 in your Steam library and selected “Properties”. Under the “BETAS” tab you can enter the code “buildArchive” plus the number of the build you want to access, for example buildArchive29596. After that, select the build from the pulldown menu.
I'am not technical minded either.
If this works you really need to contact Urban Games:

Version 29596 - Loads without issue. However, given the date of this version is July 2020 I have no idea how mods would be affected, especially later mods.
Version 54983 from Oct 2021 - did not work. This makes no sense to me as I was playing with the latest beta before the update was released.
If I do decide to uninstall and reinstall, are there any folder/files you recommend I should delete. How good at uninstalling is Steam?
I have also run CHKDSK but it looks like no errors were thrown up.
For me, the game is now unplayable and I have no idea what to do next.
Any suggesstions?
As I wrote this there was a very small update to the program, mine is now on 35304.
The release notes here will give you an idea of the different versions:

I rolled back and tried then tried each update ut only the oldest version worked. Which is daft as I have save games from later on and even had the beta working before the update.
I've sent an email to Urban games with a copy of my latest stdout.
Dont know if or when I will hear back but fingers crossed.
My C drive is an SSD drive albeit many years old. It only has windows, MS Office and half a dozen games. All the others being uninstalled.
I appreciate your time and helpful comments though. If you think of anything else, feel free to add a comment.
At the moment, I have the up to date version installed.
I do wonder if it is my laptop and not the game but again, dont know how to find out if and what might be broken.

When enabled, it has a yellow warning symbol next to it and the game will crash a few seconds after starting a new map. I cant scroll or click on anything. As soon as I click a mouse button, the gane becomes unresponsive.
After disabling the mod, the symbol changes to a red warning, however, once into a map, I can scroll around for a few seconds before the game crashes
This mod is defeinately affecting my game but im not sure how.
Steam will only uninstall files it installed itself. And that same thing goes for validating files. It will only check the "basic" game files.
Workshop content, mod added content from the TF2 Website etc.. or anything you've placed in the folder manually (such as things you've made yourself) will remain untouched. You'll have to delete those things yourself.
It won't even delete your saved games or any ini files in your Userdata folder.
If you've only got 1 drive (C:) Steam won't let you create a new steam library elsewhere without some... creative things..
If you had another drive, such as E: F: etc.. then it would be easy to do.
If your laptop ran the game before the update, still runs the older saved games, and things work when you do, then it's 100% not your laptop.
That really does sound like one of the mods you had/have has left a file that's not compatible with the update.
Back up anything you want to keep such as screenshots, or saved games (i would delete these myself, but it's up to you) Then read on:
To uninstall everything:
- Uninstall TF2 in Steam
Then: Delete your workshop mods from the folder here:
- Steam > Steamapps > Workshop > content > 1066780 > *Mod Folders*
All the numbered folders located here are individual mods still installed in your game.
Then, Go back to the main Steam folder, and look for the folder named "Userdata"
- You may have a number of "numbered" folders in this one, so open each and find the "1066780" folder.
Click "local"
This is where your saved games, and any .ini files reside.
Delete everything in this folder.
Reinstall the game, and start a map.
This should have cleared everything, your mods, saves etc.. So nothing should be left to cause issues.
(Corrected a few spelling mistakes)
That file allows the game to use older models (As far as i know) so that older saves will work.
I don't think that mod itself is your issue, but it might be conflicting with another mod you have which causes the crash.
It may even be that one of your mods requires it, and another conflicts, causing the crash no matter what you do.....
Thank you so much for the above advice. I have followed your instructions and am now downloading/reinstalling a fresh copy.
One thing I noticed when trying to delete the workshop mods, they seemed to be disappearing while I tried to delete them. Should I have unsubscribed to them before uninstalling TpF2?
If this doesnt work first time, I might do that and then attempt your process again.
I cant tell you how much I appreciate your help though.
PS. Tried to give you a community award, but it wont work.
Hi, the Legacy Vehicles mod setting is best left alone as it's needed for the new version of the game to use older save games.
The new version upgraded many of the vehicle models (more detailed). So when opening an older save game, this mod converts all old legacy vehicle models to the new detailed versions as a one-time step (unless you decline). So really it's more of a built-in function of the new game version than a "mod".
I've not noticed any reports that it causes crashes.
Cheers
