Build/place a road shortcut

I have a wish.... like anyone else ;)
How about providing a keyboard shortcut, or at least a possibility to assign one to a very frequent action in the game - placing a road. Dragging it to a desired point (and i tend to place very short bits of road) and each time moving a mouse to click on that beeping tick to accept the action makes me only think that someone didn't think much about it when creating the game... and still hasn't few years into it.
Is there a mod somewhere well hidden that would allow to highlight the button that one wants to have a shortcut for and assign one to it?
