once CPU speeds hit 15 GHz.
Seriously man, I have games that have x10 and x20 speed with tons of units, not the CPU there... also, was playing the same games with a 2011 pc!
Also, this game has barely half of TTD has in terms of content, no way it has a high demand on CPU.
See?
And when you have to wait in a game, it is a failure on the part of the devs. They need to give us the option to accelerate time more. The game feels like an early access one, it lacks alot of things.
I even pause the game when I build anything.
There are games with ultra high speed forward, but they do not use an agent-based system where every single passenger and cargo unit is simulated.
If you want to wait looking at a train rolling that is you, I want to play a game not look at an idler.
I'm not complaining about the game because the problem is caused by me putting to much stuff on the map. I'm just agreeing with others. That higher speeds wouldn't work all that well in most cases.
Again, it is not about you, it is about giving players a choice. You can waste your life looking at slow moving objects on your screen at x1 speed, or you can play at x20 to get where you want then you switch to x4 or something slower to see if what you did was good, and so on.
The game is so slow, I need to play another game to have fun at the same time. lol
Others need arcade racing games.
(right) alt+D. where it says debug speed you can move it up to x32.
TPF2 is a demanding game. x32 speed will not last very long. I frown when I see my late game save still running at 144fps when zoomed all the way into the ground or water. Its 15fps if have an entire city into view.
You are not getting it.
This is not us being against the idea.
Using higher speeds is unfeasible, in most situations anyway, due to technical limitations.
Please read more the following guide and draw your own conclusions.

As noted above, on large enough maps, even 2x and 4x speed will not work anymore, or there will be hardly any difference. And even on regular maps in the beginning, 10x and 25x may be too much to keep track.
As I said, the developers would have to remove the agent-based system, and replace it with a simpler way to calculate traffic, something like oTTD for example.
