How to see route profit?
Coming from OpenTTD, how do I see induvidual route profits? Like say one with 20 vehicles, so I can see at a glance how well that route is doing, and if it needs more or less vehicles?

For cargo, whether you need more or less vehicles is determined by the line rate. If your rate is equal or less than the demand/supply then you will remain ideally profitable. If your rate is higher than the demand/supply you will be running empty and being less profitable.

The only way to really see a line's profits is opening up the individual line window and selecting the finance tab and looking at the graph. Sadly there is no number any wheres that shows the profit.

For passenger lines you just have to try and gauge it from how many people are waiting on the platforms or at the stops.

Just press F2, or click on the Line Statistics icon in the bottom right of the screen.

If you open the line manager, by selecting the line through the manager or through a station served by the line.

The profit or loss will be shown in blue or red. Best to use the time graph to get the numbers for the past few years as opposed to a single year.

If your line is profitable, and stations full of cargo or passengers that cannot board due to vehicles being full, that would be a good time to increase capacity, by adding vehicles and/or increasing train consist length.

What you both are referring to is not a traditional profits read out since it is based on a moving point in time rather than a fixed period of time. Only the graph shows the actual profits for the year.

I was not clear, but, yes, I did mention this is best seen through the graph.

And yes, the blue/red numbers change a lot, so it provides innacurate information, especially for single vehicles running long routes with few stops, where they will run at a loss just before reaching the station, and then suddenly be very profitable. Still helps to gauge things quickly though, especially on the line itself rather than a single vehicle.
