Trying to get a long mainline and trains keep bunching up
So i tried as a challenge to make one giant line to goes by every town but i keep getting issues where all the trains keep bunching up... I've tried to manually stop each train in turn to get a bigger gap but it keeps happening any suggestions?

assuming you only have one line with lots of trains on it, the easiest solution is to remove all signals from one section and use the signals to space out the trains.
Use signals to make "blocks" Divide the track into sections the number of setions should be equal to or greater than the number of trains you have running on it.

You aren't by any chance telling the trains to wait until full are you? That would certainly cause bunching up.

Usually happens when you have lead trains that are always full, and rear trains that have few to no passengers. The best gap standard is forcing early leave from a station, which is only doable by double reverse or stopping an empty train entering the station so that it finds its next station routing after the station to start it again (click reverse twice while a train is at a station), except for the lead train. And do that while not collecting a full load at a station for the lead trains.

i thought stations were themselves a signal but maybe its from TF1 or another game... i'll try that
They do act as a signal, but if a train is trying to go in while one is trying to leave you will have a problem. use a signal before the station to stop trains before they block the othe train. If you use signals to space out the trains it will make them stop until the next block is clear. They can be used to space out the trains.

only if the station is added to a line; if not added to a line the station does nothing
