However there are hundreds of posts like this on this forum and 99.99% of the time it's a simple "user error".
The food icon is the default icon for that type of wagon btw. If you put tools in it the icon will change.
So go through this checklist:
- are all your stations, depots connected? Freight can only make one "free" hop. So click on each station and depot in your chain and make sure they are all connected. If not sure how to do this pls politely ask and will be happy to explain.. This is the most common mistake and we all do it.
- are your stations and depots actually where there is demand?
- are you using the right wagons/trucks at each step? Second most common mistake.
- if you eliminate all cargo filters does that changes anything?
My guess is there is a connection issue at final destination of tools.
And if you are this upset pls take two minutes to post a saved game. There's an incredible number of helpful people on this forum and they will happily solve your issue in minutes if you upload a saved game.
As autocoach suggests perhaps share the save...
Also any wagon will show the default product until it loads an item for that route.
Look, I'm not some noob, I have over 130 hrs in game; I know what I saw. It's happened to me before, I deleted a route and the cargo on the dock earmarked for that route didn't go back to the factory nor did it get re-distributed to the other routes (as I'd hoped), it just vanished. And we're not talking about a little, it was like 300+ tons. My biggest gripe about this game is the station cargo "balancing", or more like a lack thereof. It never fails, especially when money is tight, that there's a ridiculous amount of tonnage for the one line and then any additional lines just... trickle... out, and jam up the stations. I don't need 300 tons on the dock for a line that only runs 96 at a time... Load 96 tons on the dock and go to the next line!
Funny how the "default product" changed depending on the route I assigned the truck to. I saw ice cream, I saw sand, and I saw tools, always on a route where I didn't have access to them. No biggie, they load correctly when they get to the station, it's just odd.
And there was nothing wrong, apparently, since all I did to clear it was send the train to the depot, delete the route, then re-define the line (exactly as it was - including the platforms; it even re-assigned the same route number) and re-assign the same train to it. By definition a glitch. Bothersome.
This game does a lot well, and I love the graphics. I enjoy playing it, usually, but the station mechanics are a bit wonky. If the dev's aren't going to address the station balancing problems then maybe we could get a modder to give us a station balancing tool, some way to dial in which lines get what supplies, some way to prioritize cargo assignment.
Edit: OK, I guess this is a game dynamic I missed in the tutorials... If you have a factory that isn't delivering goods to your station/port, just send your vehicle(s) back to the depot, delete the line, recreate the line and reassign your vehicles to it. Just happened to me again on the China mission, like the second line I created.
I've yet to figure out how to "fix" it, though. I've even re-built the cargo station on the tool end (the other station is working, taking the planks & steel), re-set the line - no luck.
F-me this is annoying.
