Zoom
Is there any way to zoom in closer in normal play, without using the camera tool? Some setting or something in the files to change perhaps?

Sorry, I meant closer than maximum zoom.

I'm more interested in zooming out further. But for what it's worth I tried searching the game files for a way to change both the min and max zoom levels. I couldn't find anything. I'm not saying there is 100% definitely no options to do this. But it looks like that's probably the case.

On a related note. For the life of me I can't figure out why the developers haven't added a zoomed out map mode. It can be done by modifying the geometry settings and using the camera. So it looks like it's possible. Unfortunately that system is to cumbersome to be practical. In my opinion it would be great if I could press one key and toggle to a centered whole map view with the proper geometry settings. Not having a map view is one of the main reasons why I only play in sandbox mode. If I'm going to play the economic mode I want to be able to easily zoom out and see my whole "empire".

Sorry for changing the subject. I'll stop ranting now. :)

It's called "maximum zoom" for a reason.
There is no "super duper zoom".

The only way I know to get "closer" without using the camera is to go into "enter cockpit" mode (click on the movie camera in the vehicle/person window).

I'm not complaining about the name. Max zoom seems like an entirely logical label. I'm complaining about the level of zoom that is attached to the name. That doesn't seem very logical. Especially when the game engine already has the capability to do better.

Thank you for looking, I am just finding it a little difficult to place small assets precisely as the view doesn't quite get close enough. I shall labour on!
