Unfortunately I won't play TF2 again without cloud saves
I really enjoyed the time spent in TF2. I spent a lot of time building my progress and enjoyed the campaign. Unfortunately, after some time without playing it, I came back only to find that all my progress was lost, as I changed computers in the meantime.

I understand the saves are too heavy for cloud sync, but I won't spend more of my time on it without this feature. I believe this is quite feasible to be implemented with compression. Even being large, my intuition is that the save files are highly compressible data, unlike game assets and textures. It's about time we have this feature.

Ever heard of external backup? Try using either a USB drive or at least copy your game saves to a safe directory before reinstalling.

Don't be so dependant on Cloud.

We've done without this "feature" for years. What make you think we need it now?

Fortunately, it doesn't matter to us one way or the other if you cloud save or not. (I'm still trying to figure out why you felt it was so important to tell us.)

External backup is your friend.

But as an online alternative, just upload your desired save in the workshop and problem solved. Except for the campaign missions, which are easy enough anyway.

I'm still confused with the fact he understands saves are too heavy for cloud saves, but still thinks it is feasible. Perhaps he wants to talk to the boffins at steam whom place the limits of the size of cloud saves and maybe realise those servers cost money to run also...

See-ya. Personal responsibility is such an offensive notion these days that it's probably for the best.

it's not hard to go through your app data and grab the save games for like 90% of the games you've played

Indeed, I remember doing exactly that when I upgraded to a PC that could run the game comfortably ... y'know, like, just copy all the key saves across from one machine to t'other...

USB stick, job done. Ta-ta ;-)

USB stick or in general any NAND based storage is not iideal for a backup. Rather mechanical external hard drive.

Sad to see you go! We are all certainly going to miss all your helpful and insightful posts about the game.

Transfer your save to your new PC. It ain't that hard to do!

Or are you just whinging for the sake of it, and did your bottom lip wobble [a little or a lot?] when you read the responses to your post?

USB sticks, and external drives etc are bloody handy for things like your "issue"
