Steam Deck Support?.. And other consoles, for that matter.
I know this is a weird question given the type of game TF2 is. I'm planning on getting a steam deck but am curious to know if there's a chance this game could be supported with it?

Cities Skylines has a pretty good history on console, which leads me to an even bigger question.. Could this game be ported over to console like Playstation and Xbox?

If no mods or devs read these, then I wonder what you all think at least.

According to the steam page for the game it supports Steam OS so as long as the version meets the hardware requirements it should work in theory. But I would imagine you'll be pretty much stuck with non modded game play, or very few mods (if supported) and smaller maps. Only time will tell I guess...

Thanks for pointing that out, I didn't even realize it. I hope the devs are willing to make it work well with a controller!

steamdeck will support mods ... to the limits of its hardware.
It literally just runs the PC version of everything. it's only ever a question of how nicely a given game designed for windows cooperates with Proton.
you'll probably want to dock it so you can use a mouse and keyboard setup properly though.
it's supposed to be good enough to run medium settings for most games.

Except in this case, TF2 is a Linux-native game, so you don't need to worry about Proton at all, it's ready to run on Steam Deck by default.

Of course, TF requires some serious hardware power to run its simulation, and that's not something you're going to get with the Deck... so it might not be the smoothest experience. Might be better off sticking to small/medium maps.

Small maps maybe, both on Steam Deck and consoles. Feasible? Yes. Would there be a demand for console versions? I think unlikely.

Do not even think of mods on consoles. Steam Deck you might be able to use a few, but the experience will be nowhere as good as on a PC, especially given how large many of the mods are.
