PLEASE add back in auto replace.
I absolutely love TF2. It's everything I loved about TF which I have played for over 100hrs minus the fact that you can't set auto replace on your vehicles. I am so far into my current game that all I do is sit there and manually replace vehicles. I can not comprehend why you guys would take this out. It has actually gotten to the point where it is unplayable and I can not enjoy my time while half of it is spent trying to keep up on replacing over 1,000 vehicles. PLEASE add back in the Auto Replace feature as it has ruined TF2 for me. Thanks.

You can replace "all" trucks if you want.

Vehicle manager, unclick anything line or depot related on the left. Click the Truck icon in the left pane near the top. Click the all button on the top of the truck list on the right. Update to whatever you want. Curse the gods your selection doesn't haul xyz. Re-update everything with an "all goods" truck. Done.

You can update as many or as few lines or vehicles as you want at anytime.

Why would they need to add it in again..?

Cheers..!

You know that you can use the vehicle manager to e.g. instantly replace all vehicles on a line?

The NEW system is MORE powerful, learn how it works, before dismissing it so easily...

It would be nice to have the OPTION.

I loved having to re-input the whole (talk about time-consuming) consist all over again just to set up auto-replace
Sure I did.
Oh, and the game spent my money when IT wanted to, not when I wanted to (or could). Also, with auto-replace, you HAD to replace vehicles when it was time.

It's a mental thing. You've used auto-replace for years, you know how it works, you're used to it. This new-fangled "maintenance" thingy is CHANGE..... and nobody likes change. It may be better and more flexible, but you don't understand that yet.

I like this much better.. You can easily replace seversl lines at the same time if they have the same equipment.

You can have different items on the same line and pick what you want to replace. Etc. Wouldn't want the old way.

I'm also in the "2 > 1" camp on this. In the first game, having to individually go through many many lines to update the Auto-Replace order whenever a new vehicle unlocked was a major pain and was just un-fun. I'd rather not go back to that.

So, I understand how the new Maintenance method works. At the end of the day you still have to go through every single line and update all of the vehicles. Not all line have the same vehicles so selecting all lines and replacing it all at once does not work. I have a map so large that I have over 200 lines making just over 500m/yr. If i sit down and replace every single vehicle as I need to, it takes over 30min to do it. I have the lines designed perfectly so they can just auto run and perfectly figured out. But having to manually replace every single vehicle every 45min is ridiculous. I don't understand why it isn't an option any longer.

Well, that part hasn't changed though. You still have to go through the major pain of going through every line and replacing the vechicles exactly as you had to do with TF1, but here you have the added benefit of having to do it multiple times over a vehicles lifespan before you get something new (or if you are at the end where new vehicles are no longer a thing)

You no longer have to replace vehicles unless you want to do so. They no longer get old and 'wear out' or stop working. The only reason to replace is for new items that come along because you want a better line. That is, IMHO, very much easier in the new system.

Let's say that you set up what i call a CA (Cargo Automobile) line in every city in a truck stop beside a train station. I label all my CA lines like this:

CA-Boise
CA-NewYork

So .. if i open up the vehicle manager , I can check all the CA lines .. they all have the same kind of truck (the best one that does all cargo most of the time). I would have a different number of vehicles in each line .. but the same type. I can replace all 24 lines worth of trucks at the exact same time by highlighting them all and doing a replace. This is MUCH easier than the old way.

PT (Passenger Trains) .. very similar story.

I suppose we can agree to disagree.

Iwould like to support this request urgently, to re-install an automatic vehicle replacement function. I do not have time enough to expand my game.

I only replace vehicles for the same model if they're causing noise in town otherwise I leave them until a newer model comes out. As they are generally faster, load more quickly and carry more a straight swap doesn't work which is why I like the way it is now. You have to put a bit of thought into the pros and cons of each new vehicle type.
Blackdragonbird Jan 19, 2020 @ 1:04pm
The new mode has it's issues. For example, if you replace a vehicle that have compartments, the cargo is lost, only vehicles that have a single cargo storage compartment are replaced without this bug. If they at least had kept the old mechanic of replacing only when unloading/loading in a station this could be avoided.
