you have to click on cargo icon on each station.
Yes I would expect it to say something that if that's what I tried to do, but that is not the case here. Ranci has both cargo and passenger platforms but I have as you might imagine tried to get this to work many times now and have made absolutely sure that I clicked the cargo icon of the station. The other station, the sawmill is purely cargo.
I'm wondering what other circumstances might lead to this error message.
Line Manager doesn't show the route line to stations it thinks are unreachable - you are not looking at a line for this route on the screenshot.
Yes I looked at that possibility. Both by eyeballing it and by proving beyond doubt the whole length of line was OK by creating several other routes using all of the track concerned. I'm pretty much 100% sure it can't be that.
Have you already tried to change the terminal?
Share some screens of that station and from the t crossing in the middle! or share save!
Yes, the answer was in fact that a I had built a section of four track which had switches to transfer trains across one way but not the other ('cos it wasn't needed at the time). Therefore there was in fact no path available between the stations in question. Obviously what threw me was the error message given was wrong - it should have said "no path" but instead said "Terminal 2 (not combinable).
I've credited Kodi with the official "answer" flag 'cos I suppose itr was marginally more accurate, but credit and thanks to both of you for pointing in the right direction.
