You can only off load at cargo station

That is incorrect. The difference is one has the station building at the end and the other has it along the mid-section. One is meant as a dead end, or terminus, the other is meant to allow for the rail to carry on through. Beyond that they function the exact same way.

And you can even reconfigure one to be the other.

O.K, thanks. So essentially if the goods aren't going anywhere in particular setup a Terminus station as a sort of depot? If Im understanding correctly?

They are used the same way (loading/unloading cargo) and in most cases transferring the cargo to other trains/trucks/etc to its final destination. Te only difference is that at a Terminus the track ends there (end-of-track bumpers) and the trains have to change direction. Just as in real ife where many passenger stations in big cities are built that way.

No, Not at all. The buildings do not store any cargo. Only the platforms do. But besides that it is not possible to have cargo that is not "going anywhere in particular". Any item of cargo that is at a station has a very specific destination it is already assigned to or it wouldn't be there in the first place.

They're just regular stations that, instead of having rail exits in two directions, have rail exits in only one.

I use them in towns at the edge of the map or where a mountain is on the other side so there is no need for it to extend in both directions.
