UK Town Names
I got fed up with this in TF1 and I am disappointed to see that no change has been made in TF2. Why are there in-game town names like "Bletchley and Fenny Stratford" or "Dalton Town with Newton"? These might be the names of local administrative districts, but they are not the names of towns; Bletchley, Fenny Stratford, Dalton-in-Furness and Newton-in-Furness are the names of the towns (or villages).

It is easy enough to modify the game file, but I would much prefer to not have to. For others wanting to do this, the file is here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\res\config\name2\europe\en\towns.lua

I see there is another file, C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\res\config\name2\england\en\towns.lua, with names like "St Ives, Cambridgeshire", which are just as inappropriate to me, but I have not discovered what this file is used for.

195 countries in the world. UK isn't that "special" among them. There's several mods in the Workshop with different countries city names. One with UK city names is only a matter of time. Patience.

EDIT: you can go into Settings when creating a map and select English (and several other countries) town names.

Not sure what the objection is, the names aren't spelt correctly or maybe the op feels they don't exist? Or maybe do exist? Certainly St Ives exists, I used to live there.. I've also been the Bletchley. In milton keynes

(Or, if it's that important to you, make a mod yourself).

Of course Bletchley and St Ives exist, and I have no problem with these names being included in the game file, but it is not "Bletchley" but "Bletchley and Fenny Stratford". This is the name of an administrative area, not the name of a town. People don't say they live in Bletchley and Fenny Stratford; they say they live in Bletchley or that they live in Fenny Stratford, as the case may be. It isn't even as if they share a railway station - each place has its own.

For players living in the UK, there is already a file with town names. All I am saying is that some of the names are not appropriate; they aren't the names of towns.

If you don't use UK place names, this won't be of any concern to you. However, I am sure I am not the only person whose European games default to the UK place names list and who is irritated by some of the entries.

You know the Dev's aren't actually from the UK though right, in fact I'd be surprised if many of them have actually even been here let alone to the extent of knowing what towns we have. I suspect it's faulty information from documentation they've been provided, but they may have never been told or even if they have, I suspect that town names are very low on their list of priorities for the game as there is tons of more important things to fix or to add to the title.

The names were probably originally generated from a postcode file that would list the "towns" in that way. As has been said the devs aren't British so they wouldn't know any different just as I haven't a clue if all the American and Asian town names are correct.
