Signal Placement
Is there an easier way or could you create an easier way to place signals rather then just single clicking (Dozens of time) to place them on lines. (im sure there was an easier way in TF1) Thanks

I use that mod. Work well. Select signals, ON auto signals, set distance or OFF. And set them one way or not. Work great when you build very long distance rails network.

Thing about signals is it matters how you place them in all sorts of ways, there are all sorts of trade-offs to consider. As such they are central to good play so it seems doubtful that the devs would want to compromise all their hard work on this simulation by introducing some sort of one-size-fits all-one-click-compromise feature that would be but a hair's breadth away from fully automating signalling and removing them from active game play altogether.

that would be a terrible thing to add! nevermind that you almost NEVER use the same signal twice on a rail-line in direct succession (exit-signal -> block-signal -> "vorsignal" -> change of speed -> entry signal)

Many players (and youtubers) place way more signals than needed.
You only need many signals on a line if you have several lines using the same tracks.
Otherwise you only need a couple of signals, since the trains will space themselves out evenvly over the track anyway.

Manually placing signals is a must, spacing and position are important. A possibility to upgrade signals however would be nice ...

You'd spend more time deleting those auto-placed signals that it auto-placed in the wrong places than just placing the signals yourself.

It seems the lot of you have not used many long stretches of track used by more than one line where you need many evenly spaced signals. Placing those by hand is a chore. An ability to automatically place them over a long stretch of single track with a chosen interval would be a blessing.

Just because you don't play a certain way doesn't mean others don't nor it is wrong to play like that.

Just one click on the right side of rails .if your line is single no signals needed. if you have a double line connecting two stations click on the right side of each line and make a connection to the two rails permitting the return of train running on the right track

What the hell are you even talking about?

Talking about a system where there are literally never more than 2 or 3 trains running I think, in which case sure you only need to place 2 signals.

Comments about how signal placement is important are all 100% valid when it comes to laying out junctions and station throats, for the other dozens of signals splitting up the long crosscountry portions of routes into useful sized sections the only thing that matters is that the signals are roughly the same distance apart, having a tool you could 'lay' over those sections of track to place signals every ###m would achieve the exact same task far quicker and easier whilst taking absolutely nothing away from the rest of the game.

The LostPenguin

You are right , Thanks

This what Railway Empire does and it works fine there. Would be nice if Urban Games could adapt that feature.

This answer ^^^^^ from Tossi & TheLostPenguin is right.

I was thinking the same thing.
Just add an option to auto-place signals in the opposite direction with an X amount of space between them.
This auto placement shoult stop untill an other signal, building or switch is beeing detected.

I dont like auto-placement for signs. It makes fun to place them, you can learn alot and use them for your advantage.

But lots of people would like it, that's why having an Option would be great, those of us who like auto signals to split large stretches of track get to be happy, and the folks who like to place every single one by hand can be to, because they don't have to use the Option.
