Machine Production Problems
I am having an issue with a couple industries on a freemode map. I am trying to produce machines. I supply wood to a sawmill, but the sawmill won't produce planks. I am also supplying coal and ore to a steel mill and it won't produce steel for delivery to the machine factory.

I have set up:
* truck wood to sawmill - works
* sawmill produces no planks
* truck planks to train depot
* train planks to machine factory
* train machines to town needing machines
* truck machines from train depot to the industrial section of town

Catchment on all points of delivery light up correctly.

I have tried limiting these trucks/trains to only pick up planks or steel, but they never pick anything up. No planks or steel get produced and show up on the truck depots. Trucks on the plank line all show their cargo as wood, not planks, and trucks on the steel line all show their cargo as wood or plastic, neither of which I am producing, so not sure why it detects that as the cargo.

As a last ditch effort last night I found that if I connect a truck line from the steel mill directly to the machine factory the steel mill will begin to produce, but it is a long distance between the sawmill/steel mill and the machine factory. I do not want to do this all via trucks, its too far a distance. Once the mill begins producing steel, I am still unable to pick these up for delivery to a train depot.

Clearly I am missing something...

If you would like to see screen shots, let me know how to capture a screen and I will post them.

Also, I've seen industries get moved or replaced in Skye Storme YouTube videos, but I don't see a way to do this on my game, so if you know what is required for this, let me know, as I would like to try re-placing the industries to see if that resolves the issue.

The delightfully named 'West Jordan West' is not connected to the road network even though it is snug against the road . An extra bit of road at near the building at the end of the platform creates a path to give connectivity . Basically every time you build a station or road station , click on it and it will highlight any buildings such as commercial buildings or industries that are in range . If you click on W J W it does not highlight anything .

You may find it easiest to share the save game to the workshop , F12 for screenshots but unlike TpF1 it is less obvious here what is wrong . Assuming all vehicles are running and can carry planks / steel etc .

industries get moved or replaced : Can be done in game when you enable the mod 'sandbox mode'

Autocoach,

Thanks for the reply. I will try replacing the industries first, if that doesn't work I will share the game.

Autocoach, excuse my ignorance, new the Transport Fever: How do I enable sandbox mode mod?
Autocoach Dec 29, 2019 @ 12:24pm
Save the game go to the menu . Load the game back in on the load screen there is a small '+' on the right hand side , click on it and it will bring up possible mod options , one will be sandbox mode .

Iron ore and coal (load only)-> steel plant (unload only)
Wood (load only) -> sawmill (unload only) planks
planks and steel (load only) = machines (unload only)
machines (load only) -> city (unload only)

Don´t forget to check if all your stations are properly connected to their nearby industries

Here is the saved game.

If checking out the game: the sawmill is NE of Philly, the Steel mill is SE of Philly and the Machine factory is SW corner of map in Jordan.

I can't figure out how to get the Sandbox Mod enabled. I see no "+" sign when loading the game, and in the list underneath titled "Enabled Mods" I see no mods. I enabled the mod on a new game, and it shows up when loading that game, but only that game. It does not show up in the list of enabled mods when selecting this game.

Artos25977, yes, I have told all modes of transportation to only load the specified resource. That made no difference, because the Sawmill and Steelmill are not producing Planks or Steel to load.

Autocoach, thank you! I see it now. Very well hidden! Will let you know if I am able to rebuild those two industries.

Truck to train depot. Why do you shift goods to a depot?
Brad Dec 29, 2019 @ 1:18pm
MrKrabs, If you are talking about the extra truck depot near the sawmill, that was a meager attempt to resolve the issue. Is that what you were pointing out? Sorry, did not play TF1, so this is all new to me and I was trying everything possible to get the line working.

Autocoach, thank you! I will try correcting and see if it resolves the issue. Not sure why that would require a road connection though, as I ship in/out of a train depot.

Think of it like this . At the moment the drivers of the fork lift trucks from the machine factory cannot get to the rail station without crossing a patch of mud and they cannot do this.

Autocoach, You rock! Correcting the road connection there resolved the isssue. Here are my first plank and steel shipments by train heading out for W Jordan W (default name)!

Autocoach, and yes, thank you, it makes sense after thinking about it because as Ive noticed the road path length is what controls catchment. So no road, no catchment!

Nice to read that your problem is solved. This solution will be helpful for many others.
