Unable to find path (No path for big ships)
<A path has been found but only for small ships.. >

It is all navigable waters (green)

Anyone got this error?

I am trying to dig fairways.. But I would like to know how deep I need to dig somehow on the overlay map.

that error is if you dont have big ports for the ship to go to, upgrade the port with big port and set the line to that port

Can the harbor/dock in question actually accommodate large ships? They need large piers for large ships—the larger ships can't even use small piers at all.

Quick follow up question.. Do I need to wait for the ability to build a large dock or should I be able to "configure" it from the beginning?

You can add large docks and small docks as you wish!

ah.. selecting a dock seems buggy.. But I know how to do it know. Cheers

There's a few possible reasons, you've made a bridge and it isn't quite wide enough.. but most likely the dock is too close to land for the larger ship to access it.

Try building docks out into deeper water.

No big dock was the issue in my case.

It is a little confusing to me in the beginning too. First, as mentioned above, you have to build a dock then use "configure" function to add Large Dock(pax or cargo), then make sure you add the "Large landing". After that you make a line to it and REMEMBER to change the terminal to the corresponding large dock. Enjoy the big boat!!

you can buy a large dock from the beginning on. you only have to select the large one.

after add a large dock, delete the old small dock.

The message is confusing at first. It implies that the whole route does not work when, actually, all you need to do is change the terminals from a small landing to a large landing.

Yeah the whole landing thing catches a lot of people out, including me the first time I used docks. You have to think of the large dock like you would a railway station platform, then add the 'landing ' which is like adding a track in a rail station.

One misleading reason to get this message is if you accidentally cut off the route to the dock in question by for example building a bridge that's too low

Also want to add: If you've configured your ports over time and have a mix of large and small landings, make sure that your big ships line is using the large landings exclusively.

The line manager may have chosen the small landings initially, so you'll need to use the Terminals tab to correct the landings before deploying big ships.

This threw me for a while, so hope I can maybe spare others the frustration.
