I thought that was a one-time task? Seems like a really long shot but I'll try it. Game wants you to do something very specific but the way it's communicated in campaigns is not stellar.
You only really need transit in Fort Mac in that campaign mission. It's easiest to just build trams from the start (no buses). And the bonus task can be done with buses, as it is outside the city limits.
Yeah but the problem is that I already had trams from the beginning, in all 3 cities carrying people around. I had a few buses for connecting 2 cities but I've sold them. Then I looked over all vehicles in vehicle manager and made sure I only have trams for passenger transport. Still the task didn't trigger.
Weird to me! It should trigger right away if that's the case.
Maybe you have to start with buses only in Fort Mac. The rest of the cities ... dont matter.
You don't have to start with buses, no. But yes, all the matters in that mission for transit is Fort Mac.
The OP also started with intercity buses, and sold them. That could easily have been the effect - that those need to be replaced with trams rather than sold.
That was it! The game expected me to have trams specifically in Fort McMurray. Once I've assigned a tram to a line within this city, the task triggered successfully.
