Tram tracks without roads

I've basically gotten hooked on a number of the vienna trams and it makes me wonder.. is anyone ever going to make a mod for tram tracks outside of roads? Sometimes I really dont want civvy cars clogging up my trams, and it has a nice, smoother, more railway like aesthetic.

I seem to remember a mod in TpF1 where trams could run on rail lines. See if you can find it and try to contact the maker. Not sure if it's on steam or transport fever net though.

What i mean is not track for trains but.. how do i describe it.

Kind of like in Chris Sawyers Locomotion? I want tracks that can transition from being on a street to regular tracks outside of a road, not seperate railroads.

I've actually found that a really easy way to remove cars from tram tracks in the vanilla game is to turn on the 'bus lane' option when placing or upgrading tracks.

generally only works on four or more lane roads. the OP almost certainly knew this as it is not really a new strategy, s/he wanted roads that only had tram tracks on them.
