Will they ever add competitors
I really do want this game however i cant understand why they have left out both multi player and as if that's not bad enough they have also excluded the competitors ? like what why seems pointless without them.

ok well i guess i want to ask if you guys think they will ever add any of these to the game thanks.

I hope not.....

AI, most unlikely, multiplayer, probably not.

AI will need better game optimization first since the really game’s performance heavy.

Multiplayer though, game’d need to find ways to get mods to other players, including them manual mods, so, probably not. Unless it’s a forced vanilla game.

Do a Search. Both these topics have been discussed to death for years.
(BTW, it ain't happened after all these years. What does that tell you?)

I find the AI building new streets and nonsensical intersections annoying enough as it is (besides having to lock every little segment of road one-by-one to prevent it), so no thanks.

Just because old transport games did it doesn't mean Transport Fever should, nor does every game need to have a competitive or cooperative element to it. Sometimes people want to solve a puzzle or build something on their own.

It'd likely be optional for players, however it's development would take away focus and resources from improving or expanding other aspects of the game.

You can hope for a next game release in about 2022 with some kind of competitor.
No such update could be expected in this game.

I vaguely recall something regarding multiplayer being vaguely indicated to be a "maybe in transport fever 4 or 5" idea, or something along those lines. Something they'd like to do once they had the single player down and found a way to make the outcome not completely rubbish.

Their June patch sets them up so that they could work on this kind of game inclusion in a future TpF version (not TpF2, but TpF3 or later) if they choose to.

Community Manager said there will be no competitors AI, because it requires same efforts as developing a multiplayer. In fact multiplayer is much easier to implement.

Thanks for the replys guys, yeah it's a shame that they changed the fundamental core of the classic game they took the concept from 🙁. I know for me it's a deal breaker as the game has no competitive objective without any of these features, well hopefully they will consider this in the next iteration of the the game.

Play Railway Empire, when you want a transport game with competitors.

So long as it's optional I don't see why people should be against it.
I'm sure lots of us look back on games like TTDX with fondness for various reasons but time to bring it into the 21st century. This game is beautiful and seems to play well, so why not add features even if other games have or had them? If the devs can do it better than others then they should go for it. Hopefully it won't take too many iterations.

I was fond of Pong.... that doesn't mean I want to bring a 45 year old game back.
(If you "bring it into the 21st century", it wouldn't be TTDX anymore, would it?)

easier? Oh no, for multiplayer you need all the network connection stuff, which will make the game more complex and influence performance. Now, the game is a complete offline game. For a small team like UG it would be really heavy to include multiplayer because it's completely new for them. Also they would have to build up server infrastructure. It's better if they focus on single player gameplay and performance for now, also the wishlist is long.

Then you can join the hordes who complain about AI behaviour in that game. :steamhappy:

As I'm sure you're aware, that's exactly the point. Pong has its place in history but has been replaced by modern games which are far superior. That doesn't mean that Pong, or other tennis-like games over the years haven't had good features which may be desirable but are not present in more recent games.

The solution is for current games to add the features people want. Not tell people to go back to Pong or All Star Tennis 99 because despite any nostalgia, people understandably want to play newer games.
