Absurdly high? Not for me.
Where in real life (UK) you are skimming the bridge with maybe a foot of space, this game you could stack 2 trains above one another and still have room.
Works out 3 up (, .) to build over road and rail, 2 is enough but the game wont take it.
Could do with a tweak as the scales just not right imo. Not the end of the world, just looks naff....

Plus, if you are good with the terrain tool, you can manage the ramps on each side of the tracks before connecting the road approaches.
Make sure you have room to work.
Not for me, in fact a min height bridge will clip the catenary masts from the track running underneath
Exactly.
On a related note. It would be nice it the flatten terrain tool used the same concept of raising and lowering that tracks and roads do. For example. If I was creating a bridge that was 4 clicks high. I could use the flatten tool to precisely create land that was exactly 4 clicks higher before laying any track that is part of the bridge. I think that would come in handy at times.

build a road where you want the bridge to be and before accepting it fit the m key multiple times. when you have the height right use the ♥♥♥♥ m and n keys to adust it
simples!
Thank you! I'll try it out tomorrow.
Because it's easier to whine about the game rather than learn how to play it?
Holding the Shift key, click and drag up and down to change the height you want the start piece to be placed at. You'll see a black vertical thing appear showing you the relative height the piece will be placed at. Once happy with the height, drag it to the other side to trigger the bridge. If you don't get a bridge, you have created it too low. Remember a bridge's minimum height includes the bridge itself; not just the track. If you don't have overhead power yet, it must also accommodate that upgrade.
Once you're on the other side, you can use the same trick to raise/lower the track to create a level overpass. From this point, your approaches can be designed however you want.
With this, you can create a bridge which is essentially touching the overhead power without any special mods.
You can also use this technique to force a tunnel by setting the height sufficient to trigger a tunnel.
You can also use smaller increments with the M & N keys by holding down Shift.
