What is the best place to build big train station?
As city in game is growing I decided to build big train station to the center to the city - and it was not good idea probably, every city I tried to build big station in it's centre stopped growing. So from your view guys, where is the best place to buil big train station? Town centre? Aside?
Thanks for opinion!

I would say away from the residential - one side is fine . I'm interested in you saying a town stopped growing when you built a station .

Could you explain the situation before and after building one as it may be possible to ensure that growth continues , for example if you don't build a commuter route in town then any buildings not in the station catchment will not be served .

If you do go for central locations it's important to ensure you reinstate good road connections between the remaining halves of town, if you just chop somewhere in half and leave it like that the town wont build bridges or tunnels to reconnect itself together past your station.

Personally I've tended towards putting my stations on the edge of towns so far, even with plenty of road connections the town building routines seem entirely reluctant to start building anything the opposite side of stations, whereas in the past with TpF1 that land almost immediately gained a high value and would be developed.

@Autocoach: before bigger train station has been plopped into town centre, there was connection with relevant goods only, nothing else. Also some high-rise buildings around town centre been there. But when train station have been plopped into, the grow process decreased rapidly - no high towers, just some small residential buldings around and that's all...

@Lost Penguin: connection with both sides (halves) was reinstated always but no town progress at all or very limited...

I'll try take some screenshots before and after...

With higher emissions, it's generally best to avoid residential. So, commercial / industrial areas. Logically, I'd think commercial though.

Interesting, I had no clue about emissions and impact on the city growing? But I can try...

OK although i have never done this here is what might be happening . The centre of town has high land values capable of supporting high-rise buildings - you have taken this land and put a station on it so it will take time for new high land value areas to form . The town may still try to reach it's target however with lots of smaller buildings.

I'll try rebuild some cities today completely so I'll see where things go... anyway: any shortcut how to make video or screen shot during game? couldn't find any option in game menu...

Press F12 for a screenshot while in game. Then in Steam select the 'View' menu (top left corner) and then screenshots. From there you can share the screenie

Put it aside
Far from living zones (make sure to establish trams\busses routes which will bring people to it though)
Try to put tracks to undeground for less emission and to keep more place for the city to grow

the faster people reach there target the faster they travel again so I would always build the station close to the center of the town and later in the game additional stations at the border.
