Can cargo trucks move up a little?
Why can't the cargo trucks move up to the end of the cargo zone. They seem to always be in the middle which makes growing the cargo platform useless.

is their a mod that fixes this?

I can't wait to see some day trucks getting loaded realistically based on the product they are moving. Like backing up to a loading platform/building or getting loaded by machinery.

Love the game, but you always see ways how it could evolve.

I'd be more intreagued to see loading/unloading multiple vehicles at the same time possible at a stop/station. Something like 3-4, and maybe more if there's more load waiting than the capacity for a single truck. Bus stations work like this in my town (laying up 3-4 at a time per stop). Buses even pass other buses when they serve common stops in a bunching fashion.

The reason for lengthening the cargo platform is so the platform can hold more cargo at a time. Each cargo platform module has a set 'capacity'. Once that capacity is exceeded, you start losing cargo, so you want to keep a balance between the platform's capacity and your transport rate. If you've got a train dropping off 200 machines at a time for onward transport via truck, you want your truck station to have 200 capacity on one platform so none of it is wasted.

That being said, I agree that it would be nice to have multiple trucks use a platform at a time when there's room for it. I think it's an issue with how the game treats 'terminals': i.e. only one vehicle can use any terminal at a time. And since we assign lines to individual terminals, I don't think the game can split them up without also splitting the capacity of the platform modules.

E.G. You have 1 platform made up of 3 10m modules. This is treated as one terminal by the game. Each terminal can only take one vehicle at a time. Now, we assign Line 1 to this terminal. Line 1 has 2 vehicles (Truck 1 and Truck 2). Say we have this platform at a ConMat Plant: the industry will thus load the terminal with ConMats to be taken by Line 1 to their destination. Truck 1 arrives to load first at the terminal. Truck 2 arrives next. Truck 2 detects the terminal is occupied by Truck 1 and so has to wait for Truck 1 to leave before it can start loading.

Now, in order for the game to allow multiple trucks to load at a time, the devs would have to split each module into its own terminal, so our platform now consists of 3 terminals. Because the game only allows lines to use one terminal at a time, we'd need three lines for each terminal, and the ConMat Plant would still allocate the ConMats to individual terminals for shipping. Not a very tidy system. So the devs would have to rewrite how the game handles cargo allocation to make a distinction between 'platforms' and 'terminals'. That is actually a lot of work because just about everything in the game interacts with the terminal system.

TLDR: It would be nice to have, but is probably too much work for the devs to implement.

Yes, the advantage of the introduced dynamic spacing of buses/trams/trucks introduced in TpF1 (to reduce congestion on big cities) becomes a disadvantage in the modular bus/tram/truck station setup. It's more than a nice-to-have feature, as the way it is now significantly reduces the capacity pickups at truck stations, meaning best to have boats/trains/planes except for last-mile deliveries (even for shorter distances).

Isn't this for one person's visual effect only? It doesn't make any difference in performance, does it?

edit: you can set this mod to vanilla capacity if you want.

Looking forward to trying that mod out. I don't feel its realistic to be losing cargo. It either fits in an area or it does not. Hard to incorporate in a game that is not really considering area size / spacial for everything. Realistically if your platform is not big enough it should stay on the truck/train until it has room. or maybe it takes longer to unload to an optional secondary warehouse.

Would be cool if the peeps in the cities would work at transportation facilities and core industries.

+1
Tho like others said, longer station is for more capacity.

Still, being able to unload "At the end of the station" (not middle clogging potentially intersection)
and "while not in first position" would greatly helps on frequencies and loading/unloading time..

Hmm that's another issue... should unloading have a second platform on the other side for trucks? This only gives the developers more reason to find a solution that enables multi-platforms for a line in certain scenarios, such as when there are platforms on both sides of a lane/track. Of course, it's least realistic with buses.

You can set that mod to vanilla capacity if you want. Just make sure your trucks don't do extra loops while in it.

I've been using this mod almost since it was released; also take note of the bonus feature on that mod:

"Truck will load/unload at the end of the truck station, not in the middle (configurable)"

This goes for trams and buses too.
