PSA: How to add campaign music to free play
I realize some of you have already figured this out, but for those who might be wondering...

The campaign has some pretty good original music. It's unfortunate that you only get to hear some of these tracks during a particular mission and then never hear them again. However, there is a relatively easy way to add campaign music tracks into the free play playlist.

Campaign music is stored here:

X:\...\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\mods\urbangames_campaign_mission_01_1\res\audio\music

The above path is for the Mission 1 songs. Each mission has its own folder.

The free play music is stored here:

X:\...\Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\res\audio\music

If you find a piece of music you like from the campaign, simply copy and paste the .OGG file from its campaign folder into the free play music folder. No need to overwrite existing tracks.

The same method can also be used to add your favorite mainstream music to the game, as long as you convert it to .OGG format first.

This has been a public service announcement.

You should put this on the Guides.. it will be seen more and not lost in the Discussions.

Thanks for the suggestion. I just took your advice and published this as a guide here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1990518662

I wasn't aware of this mod...

However, I argue that the manual method is better because it gives you control over which songs you want. I personally only imported about half of the campaign tracks. Some of the tracks (e.g. Chinese, Japanese) are not appropriate for the type of maps I play on (19th century Europe).

The way tagging works for mods is just as bad as the amount of post and run maps on the workshop.

Thank You for sharing Rod. I would of never thought of doing this. Going to bed with the same 18 songs ringing in my head had my wife going crazy for that's all I would hum. Playing the MEGA map with the new update and with all the music is much better.

BTW an older version of Audacity (not sure if the newer version works) is a great way to 'batch convert' mp3 files to ogg.. works great, have my favorite instrumental music going interspersed with the 'freeplay' songs.
