Icons - feedback
Cargo Icons

have an cartoonich style you have to used to it. But ok, it can be accepted.
But here are some, which are too hard to swallow:
wheat and bread has the same colour. Its harder to diferentiate. Would it be possible the icons fill the original purpose? I mean, the graphic where shape and color help for quick guide.
The people color iis quite close to wheat, and becouse of shape it takes a bit recognizee what is piling up. I think some more diferent color would be wise.

The plank icon look like a shoe box or perhaps a chocolate cake. Would it be nice to change it to something more plankish.

The transport type icons

all has same shape, same size, same two colors. Its suppresing the idea of icon purpoose. easy qick recognition. For last game, there were mods with icons of different colors for each transport type. I was hoping you the dev will learn.

the buil menu the screen botom, - diferentiate icon of train from icon of bus is a quest. Its almost same. I have also seen a vid on youtbe a man accidentaly deleted structure becouse he didnt noticed he is using the bldozer. The same isse has the last game.
Would you make animated mouse cursors so user SEE what action is actualy selected ?
Would you make the botom panel of icons with more dostintive icons? (bigger, different shape, diferent colors)

Build icons for track, when build icon snap to the active spot of track which could be extended, it changes color. its good it gives a feedback. However, the new color is a transpararent blue-ish invisible something. That is unfortunate. When the mouse snaps to the build position, I would expect
>> 1. sound feedback (some industrial 0,5second long ding) 2. >> the cursor change to something visible and informative that tels me I am currently building.

It should be a strategic-economic-planing game, I guess. So UI which is readable in first second is important.

we will very likely be able to make mods to change all icons, like we could in TF1

This should be this games slogan, like the Apple slogan: "there's an App for that".

TpF should be: "there's a mod for that".

The icons are hideous and was a waste of the dev team time.

If they "got rid" of all of the cows. At least we should have plenty of cheese burgers for the time being. :)

It's personal taste I guess but I much prefer the UI in the first one. Menus have clearly defined sections separated by borders and different shades. It's very crisp, clear, and easy to see things at a glance.

The current trend on the other hand is where it appears as if they've just thrown a heap of text at the screen for their menus instead of any clear cut definition and with poxy little icons all over the place.

I'm also not a fan of the 'make the whole background white' (or whatever colour) when trying to do something. The first games contour lines were perfect the way they overlaid without changing anything else.. same with buildings and all the rest.

I'll probably still buy the second one but the whole look of 2 turns me off (apart from the maps themselves of course - they're beautiful to look at).

The countour lines is a chapter of its own. There is about 4 types of lines, however, only first one is visible. All others are visible only from certain range AND from certain angle. So when you trying to find proper camera position to spot contour, meanwhile your monitor burns out your eyebals by all white beam.
