How do I get passengers ?
I have a train station in a city. There are around 12 people waiting. I have a bus stop on the road right outside the train station with around 30 people waiting. It's always like this. Is there a way to connect the bus station to the train station?

Thank you.

As long as the passenger terminal is connected to the road, it is connected and anyone nearby may enter and wait on a platform.
But these 30 aren't waiting for a train. They're waiting for a bus.
Why don't you click on any of them to see what their intended destination is? ;)

Like grapplehoeker said, but if you click your train/bus station the other should go white if connected. If its normal colour, you need a tiny bit more road to connect it.

Thanks, I see now. So how do I get more people to take the train? It is between 2 towns that are far away from each other. Is the trip too long?

Three things you can do:

1 Improve Local Transit within each of the towns to bring more people to the train stations, as well as to the commercial and industrial areas of a city.
2. Improve the Frequency of the Line by adding more trains (perhaps with fewer wagons each).
3. Extend the line (or add additional lines) out to more than just the two towns. More destinations means more people will want to ride.

It's important to note that each passenger who takes a train to another town to shop or work will be returning back to the town (making two trips). Not everyone waiting at a particular station actually resides in that town and some of those will be return trips.

One way to cheaply generate demand for passenger travel out to new cities that you don't have the money to build tracks and, buy and run trains is to setup bus lines that travel between your existing towns and new towns. Buses are cheap to purchase and the roads already exist.

As passenger interest in these new towns rise, you will be able to run trains and have passengers in each town primed ready to travel, and it won't take long for those trains to be able to run full and be profitable.
