Can a boat load both passengers and cargo?
Hello, I was wondering if I can transport "stone" to make plastic using a ship, but also carry passengers both ways at the same time, in order for it to not run empty half its route. I am currently in 1852 if that matters.
Both the Quarry and Material plant is close to a town each.
How would you go about that?

You would have (for example) a passenger dock at each of the current freight ports that the boat calls at , it would then make four stops such as

Harbour A for freight (set to load 50% only maybe)
Harbour A for passengers (set to load 50% only maybe)
Harbour B for freight unload
Harbour B for passengers (set to load 50% maybe)

see here

EDIT: I didn't know you could make plastic from stone ....

No, you cannot.
But you can transport both cargo and passenger by ship as long as:
the ship can carry both types
the cargo dock and passenger dock are connected

Indeed.
stone > bricks

refined oil > plastic
plastic + steel = goods

"the cargo dock and passenger dock are connected"
and if they are both at the same station you cant connect both the same time and also not both in a row but:
Target A cargo
Target B (edit: thats not needed, see next posting)
Target A passenger
target C (or B again)
can work

Sorry, the red "construction material" Icon looked like a red lego brick so I thought it was plastic. But it did not make sense to use stone to make plastic. Thanks for the advice.

plastic + planks = goods

Just for correctness
Steel + plastic = Goods!

Ha ha yes, it was my bad... I'm gonna have to go rename my lines, they're carrying the correct goods, but I named them incorrectly lol
I'll edit the above ;)
