A way to change city names?
I don't understand why Urban Games have put in Swedish and Norwegian city names into the game, but not Danish city names.

As Dane I want Danish city names and streets names, but I really don't want to change each city every time I start a new map up, if you understand?

I have searched on Google to see how I can change the city names and found this discussion from TPF1 https://steamcommunity.com/app/446800/discussions/0/1697175413679277946/ where a guy says that I can change a file and then the city names will change automatically ingame.
The file is called towns.lua.

I can find the file in Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\res\config\name2\europe\nb\ or/and in Steam\steamapps\common\Transport Fever 2\res\config\name2\europe\norway\en

I tried to change the city names in the file, but the game chrashed and I had to click "Verify integrity of game files.." to get the game working again.

So yeah, how do I change city names without change them manually ingame?
I'm sorry for my bad English, but I hope I'm understandable.

When you set up a Free Game, on the page where you select difficulty and vehicle set, there is a button labelled 'Settings' in the upper right corner. Click it - it should open a new menu with a list of available mods at the top of the screen and some options - vehicle set, terrain and environment, and town name list - at the bottom.

I know how to add mods and stuff.
As of default I have set it to Norway and the city names I have change is for Norway, if you understand?

Edit:
When I come home from work later today (around 23:00 UTC+1) I can post some screenshots from my files and ingame. :)

I have also altered towns.lua and not had a crash because of it. You may have missed an opening or closing quote (") on a line. Also, each line ends with a comma. "Name",

I tried that, but not working. Maybe I should try again?

I also wanted an alphabet instead of town names ie A, B etc

Asked on the workshop discussions, got nothing off em..

I tried it myself.. copied the british town names created a new folder called alphabet, changed only the town names to letters.. did all correctly, no crashes, it just doesn't show up in the list.

I can't think of many reasons it would happen. 1) Missing quotation or comma, 2)Name list too long (?), 3) Unrecognised character

I'm sure there are other reasons, I just cannot think of any. I would try one more time, ensuring you didn't accidentally miss one of the punctuation symbols.

The game can recognise ÆØÅ which we use in Norway and Denmark.

Now I have succes, maybe because I forgot a qoutation or comma, hahaha. Ups.

Haha, glad it works now. Missing closing/opening bracket or quotation marks was the most common issue for me when I first started learning how to modify game files.

I've made a mod, but ... Its not going to work as you maybe expecting it too....the town names are picked at random and not sequentially (i.e. You could get three towns and their names would be B, J, Z - Not A, B, C). If that is still what you want, then I'll upload the mod - but, I doubt it is (what you want). Your easiest solution would simply be to rename the towns in-game.

All i can say is thank you for trying :)
