Truck to rail cargo transfer
Hi all, I have not been able to get cargo to transfer from a truck stop to a rail station, yes the truck stop is in range of the station and there is a complete production chain.
The only possible break in my supply chain is because the cargo is not transferring from the truck stop to the tail station, yes the train station has a cargo platform on the correct platform that the train is using.
I am at a loss as to what I am doing wrong, any help would be appreciated.

Have you set up a delivery method of the products to the end consumers?
What exactly is it that you're trying to move?

OK so It is a complicated supply chain but I have not been able to get this to work on any of the other games I have started...
SO in this instance I have Planks being trucked to a truck/bus station next to a rail station. The stop IS connected to the rail station and both have cargo platforms. Ideally the planks should be picked up by the train and dropped off at the other end at a Machine factory which already has steel stored. This machine factory is connected to the rail station. Then the finished machines should take a boat (Machine Factory is connected to the harbour) to a harbour
in the destination city where there is a tuck line to deliver them to where they are needed.....

It should be a cargo stop, not a bus station. The two are not the same. One is a passenger stop and the other is cargo only. There is no cargo/bus station, it is one or the other. It would appear that you're using a bus station instead of a cargo station.
Please provide a screenshot.

Ok so to have passengers (buses and Trams) and Cargo transfer to Train station you have to have two stops, a bus tram stop and a truck stop, simply adding a cargo platform to a bus/tram staion is not sufficient??
here is a link to a screen shot, I hope it works..

Your bus/truck station is fine. I think there was confusion because you said both stop and station. The stops in the game are mutually exclusive, but the stations can indeed be mixed just like you have done.

From your picture I see no cargo platforms on your train station. Are you sure you have them and are using them? Also I am unsure about this but it could be that you need to add a cargo building to your train station, as well as make it connect via path, in order for cargo to transfer to or from the train station. I only see a passenger building being used and connected to your station.

thanks all for the help so far,
I have added a cargo building and moved the cargo platform next to it, earlier it was at the end of the platform, this probably does not matter but might as well rule that out. I have also noticed that timber is begin delivered to the mill but no planks are being stored at the truck station next to it (you can just see the mill in the top left of the screenshot below) which still points to a break in the production chain. I have checked the chain post the rail station and have a ship and truck lines to get the machines to the center of the target city.

Are you sure the train is told to use the proper platform? And does the new cargo building you made have it's own dedicated line path connecting it to the truck station? Again, I don't know that it needs it's own dedicated path line but it is a possibility. From the picture it only looks like there is the one connection which connects to the passenger building. If a dedicated path from the cargo building is needed it does not have to connect to the station directly but could connect to a section of road instead so long as the connection to the road can path to the truck station along the road.

I have moved the cargo building, defniately a path from that building to the truck/bus station.
Only one line comes into the station currently so the train has to stop at the correct platform..see screen grabs...

OP's cargo building is connected by path now, but the passenger building isn't any longer.

The best way to validate is to see if the industry changes to "shipping" a product. But going from truck to train, you will want to make sure that the train uses the freight platform for loading, not passenger platform.

Passengers are still being loaded with the changed setup, cargo is not, still.
Surely others are getting this to work as I dont see any other posts about issues with this, so Iit must be something I'm doing incorrectly......but I can't see what. Every other line I set up works. Only the ones with a transfer from rail to road dont.
I have setup another line this time the oil>>>fuel chain, again transporting the fuel through that rail station to the next city on the line, it just does not seem to work for me.....

Show a station screenshot (F12 for Steam) with the Line Statistics window (F2) and industry "shipping" Supplier/Consumer.

I think I have solved it, looks like you need a dedicated street access to the cargo depot regardles of the station being in range of truck stations, as soon as I put a cargo depot building with a road that is connected to it the production chain completely fired up.....

Your TF4.jpg should have been enough for street connections! Even TF2 PLANKS.jpg, but not tf2.jpg.

I find this style of parallel road drawing very effective to ensure connections don't get lost: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1941901615
